what's all this about going without alcohol?
I have abstained form alcohol in the past to raise money for charity. That said, as a Christian I believe I am as free to consume and enjoy alcohol as much as I am free to not drink it - as long as it is all done to the glory of God.

Of course, if it's what is required to do what one needs to do. I realise this is a poor *justification*, given that one could take measures to ensure the all-nighter need not be undertaken, but it is very *rationally* robust.

What's the best way to spend $1,000,000?
Prudent investment, save as much as you can and give more away, not just to 'deserving causes' but blow a load of money on people you don't even like. Improve lives, throw awesome parties, be financially responsible so that you leave a secure future for your children. Be neither a miser (who is obsessed by the money), nor a spendthrift (who is obsessed by what the money gets him). These two extremes, and everything in between, fail because they rely on the human heart. Instead, be obsessed with Jesus, and your focus will be on the only place from where you can make grounded decisions.
