How much do you get paid as a beauty salon person? I wanted to hair dresser but the pay is suppose to be bad when you first start out. I did a year apprenticeship so I didn't get full wage and I might start the level 2 not too sure if its worth it lol xx
I get paid £30 for a Saturday so that's like £3.75 per hour. As an apprentice the pay is really bad, my 19 year old friend/coworker gets £100 for four days - £25 a day. It's the same in pretty much all salons cause that's the general pay for an apprentice. It's extremely hard work being a junior but if you really wanna be a hairdresser it is worth it. If you were an apprentice you would've done a course alongside your salon experience, so you weren't really an apprentice... If you want to be a hairdresser and you can handle standing on your feet all day, poor pay and a lot of pressure, then go for it! It's an extremely hard industry that is always being underestimated. You've got to have a passion for hair so you will truly enjoy it, otherwise you'll be miserable. I'm pretty lucky to be working at the salon that I do because the girls, including my bosses are all lovely which sadly is rare in the industry. Make sure you find a salon where the girls/guys are kind, I know waaaay too many nasty and bitchy hairdressers! Good luck, and I hope you follow your dream xx
