How do I tell my friends I have Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and depression? I'm frightened they might tell other people or think badly of me :'( xxxx
If they're true friends that always stand by you and when you're upset and care about how you're doing etc then you should be able to confide in them with 100% confidence. The fact that you're worried about how they'll react and if they'll think badly of you worries me that you know they're not true friends or something. There is a stigma attached to mental illnesses because not enough people talk about them and don't know enough, and can cause them to reject those with mental illnesses. I know how it feels so I'm always here for a chat, I just hope your 'friends' can understand if you tell them. Don't forget to mention how hard it is and that you just need people to be there, cause when I told people they left, and that really hurt. Maybe tell one person that you can trust completely, after all a problem shared is a problem halved xxxx
