I'm running Android 4.4.4 and Cyanogen 11.0. I actually still prefer the Windows Phone 8.1 UX, but the software environment /surrounding/ Android is so superior that I'm much happier with this phone overall.

Of course. I think if you regularly use social media and aren't conscious of its potential implications, you're not paying attention.
That said, I wonder how long the mob mentality that drives Internet and political witch hunts will last. At some point, everyone running for public office will have put something embarrassing on Twitter or Facebook once or twice. I'd like to think we'll sober up and take a "let he who is without sin" approach when that happens, though I'm sure that's unduly optimistic.

What if they replaced your phone completely?
I'm not holding my breath. There's a lot of things that phones facilitate well and watch-sized peripherals don't - that kind of change would require a serious reordering of how I work and communicate.
Thoughts on smartwatches?
They don't currently fill a need or want in my life that I don't have covered by my phone or myself. I kind of hope they don't become the new default - I rather like not wearing a watch.
Why's it irritating
Getting R to display fonts not in its native database is turning out to be more of a pain than Stack Exchange led me to believe it would be. It always frustrates me to be bottlenecked on little details - feels like I'm getting nothing done.

Who is your most inspiring friend? Who makes you a better person?
Gosh, there are so many. I'm going to choose my two younger brothers because they're my closest companions, but all kinds of voices have pushed me forward into adulthood. There was a conversation I had with @DevilGhoti sophomore year that helped knock me off the "typical white guy 'feminism'" track. My entire fraternity was there to support me when I hit my lowest point in my depression and I've learned so much from so many of them. I interact with lots of cool people on Twitter on a daily basis, some of whom barely know me. All the professors who encouraged me through college and some of my current coworkers. And I'm sure I'm missing a few in here.
Who is your smartest friend?
Um...@DudeDarkmatter? I don't know if we were friends, exactly, but he made a tremendous impact on me in the relatively short time we were in close association and I always appreciated his genuine friendliness and enthusiasm.

I might not be on the astronomy train anymore, but our class discussions about philosophy of science have stayed with me in a big way. Did you ever fall asleep in school?
Not until college. I was a Good Student in high school, but sleep deprivation eventually got the best of me.

I don't know enough artists by name to have strong opinions about this.

I have done so on cold nights. My feet get /really/ cold sometimes. But nights like that are rare - I've never lived somewhere without reliable heating.
What's the last book you read?
A Clash of Kings. Currently working my way through A Storm of Swords, as well as How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
Which famous person have you met or been close to?
I don't think I've /met/ anyone who is mainstream famous. I know a few accomplished physicists and astronomers, but no one outside the community would know them. I think the closest I am to a real famous person is to Donald Knuth, who is an alumnus of my Theta Chi chapter (like 50-60 years removed).
When was the last time you cried?
I've teared up at episodes of Shirobako, Your Lie in April, and Death Parade in the past few weeks. I think the last time I had a really good cry was when I finally got around to finishing Monogatari S2 in late December.
