Since you said you were a fan of van halen I need to know. David lee Roth or Sammy Hagar?

Please. As far as I'm concerned Van Halen broke up after 1984.

What makes John Carpenter's work so fantastic? The Thing, Big trouble in little china, The Fog... So many great movies the list goes on.

I think he's just one of those directors with an indelible style that comes through in his work. Even his failures (VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED, IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS, THEY LIVE) are usually interesting.

I have been praying for you to get better soon. I hope everything is coming along for you post-op and hope you get back to work soon.

Thanks, I start back tomorrow! Appreciate it.

Who do you think is the lamest dc hero ?

Hm, probably Flash or Aquaman. I never really liked either one of them. I'm sure there are a ton more, but those are the two that leap to mind. Certainly they have had interesting stories and characterizations over the years, but I'm just not into them.

Relating to the Chris Brown question, why do you think so many people defend Polanski? He might be a great director and maybe that judge was corrupt, but it's kind of disturbing how many otherwise-progressive celebrities will defend and work with a child rapist.

I think the difference there is that Polanski has made some of the best movies of all time, and his crime was kept quiet for so long it's hard for some people to wrap their head around it. Also, he's old and white and less threatening to a racist society than an African-American like Chris Brown. And I love CHINATOWN, but Polanski should be in jail.

What would bizarro jason be like ?

Short, super skinny, bald, no glasses, and would be something like an accountant. Also would not care about music or film or tv, would probably loooove sports. In other words, a real shithead.

Do you still have any of your retro consoles ?

No, I usually get rid of old electronics. I've owned pretty much every console since the Atari 2600, though!

Were you a fan of jackie chan adventures ? Where you surprised. when he got his own show ?

I was never a fan of that show, sorry.

At what age did you have your first girlfriend ?

17 was the age at which I first had a real girlfriend. Late bloomer.

were you the one who started the adult swim free singles ?

Yes, I'm the one who started it, and the one who picks all of the bands. It's really fun and I'm thrilled I'm still doing it.

favorite band ?

I don't have a favorite band. Here's a few favorites though:
My Bloody Valentine
Burial
Bad Brains
Fugazi
Aphex Twin
Biggie Smalls
Wu-Tang Clan
Outkast
Slayer
Jimi Hendrix
Johnny Cash
Dilla
DJ Shadow
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
PJ Harvey
Triple Six Mafia
Funkadelic
Van Halen
Gucci Mane

Ever catch Tron: Uprising? Thought the pacing and tone was very IGPX-esque (Plus, you know...Lance...). Shame it didn't get much love; seems like a very Toonami-esque show.

I was a big fan of Tron: Uprising!

Do you think fans are being extremely hard on Chris Brown? I mean everybody's done bad things from time to time, nobody's perfect.

Cool, how about if I beat your mom within an inch of her life, would you still feel the same way? Like "oh, we all make mistakes. He's troubled." Besides that, Chris Brown is constantly in the news for being a fuck-up/asshole for the last couple years. He gets no passes from me.

What are the top 5 albums that every hip-hop fan should check out ?

Man, this is a heavy question. I don't think I'm really qualified to answer it, but I'll give you 5 seminal hip hop records...
1. Public Enemy- It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back- blueprint for soooo much later hip-hop. Also a nice time capsule of where rap used to be, and still shockingly relevant.
2. Beastie Boys- Paul's Boutique- showed how far the art of sampling could be pushed. Influenced an entire generation of sampling beat makers.
3. Wu-Tang- Enter the 36 Chambers- The beginnings of the great legacy that still continues to this day. Nowadays, when people think of grimy NY rap, they think of the Rza's sound.
4. Dr. Dre- The Chronic 2001- The original Chronic is honestly more seminal, but Chronic 2001 is a better record in my opinion. Obviously Dre defined the entire West Coast sound for years, and eventually the south grabbed this style (and did their own thing with it).
5. Outkast- Aquemini- One of the greatest groups the south ever produced at the height of their powers. Hear it to understand what southern rap is about.

Do you think American would be a better place if guns were banned ?

The entire world would. But sadly that's not gonna happen.

have you ever considered wearing contacts instead ?

Contacts are for the weak. Glasses make a big guy like me look like less of a gorilla, too.

What are your thoughts on American gun laws ?

Think it's clear we could use tighter restrictions. That said, I own two guns myself, so I'm not anti-gun, either.

Why do you think it is that people who tend to watch anime are more then likely loners ?

I don't know if that's true, actually. Certainly that's not true at cons! Anime is something a lot of people get into and it's not super mainstream, so I think the anime community is pretty insular in general. Anything ppl are into that's not a super mass consumer thing will draw some folks who are not like (or THINK they aren't like) the majority of "straight" Americans.
