Jim I'm curious as to why you might elect to call yourself pansexual over bisexual. Is there a strong distinction there for you, or is pansexuality just a more open-minded person's bisexuality?

Well, bisexuality is an attraction to men and women, but there are more genders than just two, and I typically care more about whether a person is attractive than what their gender may be. Hence, I really don't give a fuck if you're cis or trans, I care about whether or not we gon' be bangin'.

Why does it have to be weird to talk to girls who are friends about masturbation? Like not in detail or anything, but I'm open about this stuff with me guy friends and I don't see why it has to be any different with lady friends.

It doesn't have to be different. Our local group of friends is a pretty even split between men and women, and thus far, I think we've found there's pretty much no subject off the table. It doesn't have to be weird unless you make it so.

Two part question; What is the best part about your job as a Critic? What is the worst part?

Best part is being able to discover and share an awesome game that nobody else is talking about. Worst part is having to review a really mediocre, unspectacular game. You can at least *talk* about a terrible game. Those middle-of-the-road, pointless ones are a terrible hassle to try and write about.

Phil Fish ragequit Twitter. Your thoughts?

I am fond of both Phil and Marcus, the latter of which I would consider a pretty solid media chum at this point. Speaking as a guy who used to get into the same kind of twitter fights those guys get into, all I could say is I hope they mellow out, the pair of them, because there's no long-term satisfaction or happiness to be gained from one-upping people on Twitter. You just get more frustrated, lash out more, and make more people have fights with you.
Neither of them need my advice, but again, speaking as a guy who used to get himself into these sort of slanging matches on the regular, all I can say is I'm 100% happier and less stressed out professionally now that I go out of my way to avoid people who want to have fights (or just retweet the funny ones so *other people* go and fight them while I block them). It can be difficult not to bite back, and I still even find myself engaging it for a while now and then, but on the whole, mellowing out and learning not to step into the shit heap when I know, deep down, that's exactly what I'm stepping into (and you always *really* know), was one of the best things I did for my long-term job satisfaction and overall happiness in what I do.
In any case, I wish the best for Phil and Marcus both. I've never had cause to dislike either of them personally and it's a shame they used their weekend for this.

Should I try Indigo Prophecy? Have you replayed in the last few years? Also, I'd love to see a DTOID feature explaining why you liked Indigo vs. Beyond, mostly to hear more in-depth opinion of the former. Maybe Quantic Dream should embrace the idea of looking stupid.

I am playing Indigo Prophecy for the DTOID YouTube channel right now, and providing my thoughts on why it succeeded as I play.

I love it say it Jim, but you were right about Anita Sarkeesian. Amazing how the whole tropes shebackle has blown over, yet the only people *still* giving a fuck are those who made it a huge deal in the first place. Thank GOD for you!

Bless you, my child.

I personally don't think Dafoe was supposed to be in Beyond. He just walked on set, Cage saw the emotional potential in his beautiful face, and fitted him with those bead-things. Dafoe agreed on the condition that he would star in Baby's Day Out Part Two.

I like this story.

Admit it: You only panned Beyond Two Souls because Willem Dafoe didn't communicate in garbled screams, thus not portraying the many emoshuns you expected. That and all the money Nintendo sent you.

Of course. All of the things.

In regards to your Vertigo Jimquisition-- gender isn't an issue in just video games. It extends to what has inspired most creative people in the position to make those things happen. Western and Eastern fantasy are dominated by attractive women. It's a societal issue, not a media issue.

People always try and deflect it this way. "But books do it, but movies do it, but it's a society thing!"
I'm a videogame critic. I am going to talk about how these issues work with videogames.

I sometimes think of you and Jonathan Holmes as the chicken and the robot from that shit Sonic cartoon. Are you also easily confused by blue rodents in lab coats?

We most definitely are the modern equivalent to Scratch and Grounder. Conrad is our Robotnik.

As a female gamer, I would like to thank you for your intelligent responses to gender issues in gaming. It is nice to hear an argument that truly focuses on gender equality, rather than feminism or misogyny. I look forward to more.

Thank YOU for watching/reading my stuff. I am glad I'm doing something right. At least some of the time!

Why did you pick Born Depressed as the theme for The Jimquisition? Any paticulat reason beyond the fact that it is just an awesome song?

The song's awesomeness was the largest driving factor, but the self-aggrandizing lyrics were a big part of it too.

MovieBob once proposed the idea of selling games a la carte - wherein you buy whatever modes and features of the FINISHED game that you want, with buying everything individually costing more than buying it all at once. Ignore whether publishers would do it, does it sound like a good idea?

Like so many ideas, it has potential to be good, and publishers have potential to fuck it up in various abusive ways. Sony tried this with the digital version of Killzone, I believe, and it was a neat idea. I like the promise in such a scheme, but I wonder how it'll end up in practice. I can easily see pubs using it to obscure a price hike or two.
