There are many certificates out there and it depends on your major for which certificates you should go for, like it doesn't make sense getting CCIE certified and you're a web developer, also sometimes it doesn't really matter getting certified as much as it does matter having the experience and some good projects you've made, like you know how to code in Python and you have good knowledge in AI or you're a data scientist and you have made good projects in those fields, you could add them to your CV and they'll be equivalent to certificates (I don't know if there are certificates for those fields but if there is, they don't really mean anything if you don't have the actual knowledge).
You could get the needed knowledge from websites like Coursera, Udemy and such websites (and they also give you a certificate after finishing a course that you could add to your CV or to your LinkedIn profile, they will let your recruiters know that you have knowledge in the topics you got a certificate of)
Also here's a life hack: search for the job you want and see what the requirements are so you know what exactly knowledge or certificates you should have.
