What was your reaction to Riccardo's toe-suicide in his preliminary? I don't know much about how Worlds is judged, but I think one of the areas promotes unique tricks, and unconventional methods. He pretty much defined unconventional.

Ricardo is the worlds best yoyo player in the style he plays. It is athletic, acrobatic and amazing. You should see what he hits OFF stage!

Why are yoyos called return tops in canada?

YoYo is a registered trademark in Canada. It was once owned in the USA but became a generic term. In Canada they still respect the trademark claim.

Doing outside loops multiple times at a time causes the string tension to change. How were you able to keep the tension in check while doing said outside loops? One time my yoyo came off flying while doing lefthand hop the fences, so I figured this is also a good question to ask. -CP [3RDQUESTION!]

Outside loops with your left hand get looser with each repetition and tighter on your right hand. You have to adjust the tension in the opposite direction and double loop the yoyos so that they don't fly off when the string gets too loose. - Patrick M

Every time I oil/change strings, I do a few adjustments on each yoyo to find the right spot for me. Once they are in the right spot, I don't usually mess with them until the next string change. I look for good combo of spin/loop. If they feel too rough when looping, the gap is probably too tight and if they slip when looping, the gap is probably too wide. - Patrick M.

How do you get long spin times with a fast response to do fast loops and wraps?

The set-up required for long spin and strong loops is an art. Gap is only one part of it, oil, string, response, it all plays into it. Every top 2A player plays on very different settings. Loop1080 allows you to find the setting that works best for you and they have made my life a lot easier since I can adjust them for whatever setting I need - Patrick M

What is the best yoyo to start 2A 900-1080?

If you are learning to loop for the first time, the loop360 is by far the most controllable, easiest to use, and requires very little maintenance. Once you get some basics down and want to progress further, 1080's will help! - Patrick M

Patrick what's your tip to fast and straight loops?

More than anything: Practice. It takes patience, but with enough time, you find the technique and it gets easier. A few tips: the yo-yo should be tilted to a 2:00 angle with each loop, cut your strings to around your belt loop, and even a little bit of oil in your yoyos makes them much more controllable (YYF looping oil is what I use). If you are just starting out, I think the Loop360 is one of the easiest yoyos to learn on - Patrick M

Any maintenance tips on how much lube and how/where to apply it on the 1080s? Other than what's advised on the instructions inside the package. -Christian P

Tons of different methods out there, but I take the bearing off the axle, put one small drop of YYF looping oil on the axle near the spacer, put the bearing on and place another small drop on the axle above the bearing. Do this every time you change strings and you're good to go. Hey Christian! - Patrick M

Loop1080 - 900's were great, but there were subtle changes and improvements on the 1080's that give them an edge - Patrick M

Do you think Janos and Hank deserve the titles this year?

Absolutely - there were so many amazing performances in both divisions and on a different day the results may have been different, but Hank and Janos both killed it and earned well deserved victories

Was Ed Norton better in American History X or Fight Club?

Does 100% poly on looping yoyos give longer spin time than 50/50?

I use 100% polyester for better spin time, a more controllable loop, and they break much less often in my experience. If you are just starting out with looping or just improving your skills, either should work fine - Patrick M.
