I've always been interested in the YYF design process when it comes to "updated" yo-yos like the new supernova. For example, the new supernova has slowly become more angular shaped than than its original 7075 version which was more rounded. In what ways do minor changes like that make a difference?
The shift in weight I think made more difference play wise in the new supernova. Old SEVEREs were more the 'fun' even weighted yoyo. The new one is a little more serious in its performance.
When does the czechmate get its permanent spot or new design?
Not sure. A lot depends on our partners in Yoyofactory Europe committing to stocking it.

Any plans on more editions of the avant garde or upgrading it?
We are happy to have the design in our portfolio. We had some concepts and prototypes of a third version but really dont think the market is ready. Maybe one day :)

Do you or your players think it's possible to win worlds on a plastic on today's metal's competition dominance? I know the Northstar won worlds at 2010 but that was 3 years ago.
and three years before that Worlds was won for the first time on a metal yoyo (2007). Plastic/metal yo-yos technically can deliver superior weight distribution and can internally contain the metal elements to deliver the precision. It is largely irrelevant.
