I didn't even have a single piercing and I want my ears to be pierced. I heard that people say first time people should use a gun but I'm really scared of the pain.
that depends on whether you're getting a cartilage or a lobe piercing, if it's a lobe piercing then just use a piercing gun. but if you're doing cartilage don't even consider piercing gun unless you really want the risk of your entire ear bone thingy shattering

I have two helixes and a tragus, all of my cartilage piercings healed a lot faster than my lobe piercings. it takes maybe around one or two months for it to somewhat heal. it's not super painful when you get it pierced but then again I have quite a high pain tolerance, I'll say it's bearable.
for me all my healing processes were very smooth, probs because I got my cartilage piercings done with a needle , don't ever ever risk getting it done with a piercing gun bc it might shatter your entire ear bone or whatever it's called and it'll take years for that to heal. so yea needle is the #1 choice for cartilage piercings bc once I got a cartilage piercing done with a piercing gun and the healing process was so messy and such a pain in the ass and after like 6 months it still didn't heal so I just let it close..
anyway in conclusion they don't hurt that bad just take good care of them and avoid touching/disturbing it while it's still healing and it should be fine. this is coming from someone who has 7 ear piercings😂
