Why Ken The Horse?
If you ask directions in Hawick (Scottish Borders) – locals will often say ” dive ee ken the horse – gan past there and turn right….” or translated: Do you know where the Horse monument is – go past there and turn right….
So that’s how the Horse got its name “Ken”.
The famous Horse Monument in Hawick. Commemorates the history, legend and tradition of the Scottish Borderlands in one of the largest and oldest of the Common Ridings.

Do you remember the names of all your elementary -grammar school teachers?

I went to a comprehensive & yes of course i remember . . . . some of them were even still there when i went to my kid's parent's evenings (after i returned to my home-town , solo parented) . I always brought my kids with me -stops the teachers from lying ! The best teachers thought it a good idea ; only once a teacher objected , & i asked "what have you got to hide . . . . ?" (stutter , stammer , splutter , & with a redning of the face)

. . . . I was walking my dog , & expecting my daughter to phone ; i answered without glancing at the screen , saying "WOOF-WOOF" ; a voice says "hallo , this is doc mcDonald . . . . " ~splutter, choke~ ; i donno if he being my son's girlfriend's dad made it worse or less ! he's a pretty okguy , shame he took early retirement . . . xx

I wouldn't dare ; i live in terror of what we call incurring the wrath of "d'rage"

I asked Elaine ages ago if she wanted to chat off this site and she said no. So........ her loss

Yeah , she's had bad experiences ; she declined me also , i just went ahead & found her . She was ok with it , but i understand why she's so protective & cautious ; i've personally had my share of nightmare scenarios similar to hers . "Protect & survive" .

yes . . . chilli beef tacos , from Radar's in Aberdeen -donno if it's still there , really down to earth & real , loved by students . . .
