the bowel muscles contract at a regular and constant rate so I will presume I had several while typing this

do i need to eat the same amount of calories on rest days as well as exercise days? i am asking bc some people say you need to eat less when you don't exercise bc you don't burn as much but i feel like we should eat the same so our body gets used to it?? what's your opinion?

Reassurance and anxiety reduction

I know these are so annoying but please help me. I've been weight restored for well over a year now but for the past 6 months or so I've been calorie counting and making sure I stay at 2000. If I was to stop counting now and eat what I wanted but it took me to a lot more than 2000, what would happen

(TW maybe?) I've been eating aproxx 1300-1500cals (I don't count) but I wanna get my shit together and start with ~2000. Idk how to spread out or add up my cals throughout the day tho so could you possibly help me out, please? Like an example x

When the government say to eat 2000 calories, who is this actually aimed at?

I thnk its a really old study of the general populations intake.
I really am not certain that it has any scientific grounding whatsoever.
I feel STARVING on 2000 calories a day and maintain on a lot more.

Oh it's just lucyholdcroft now! I don't use it very much anymore and I deleted my ED recovery posts when I left the community last year 🙈

I've heard that exercising can affect whether or not you get your period. Is this true, if so why?

Yes. I think it has something to do with body fat levels, as if a woman falls below a certain body fat or has too large a calorie deficit or something like that (different points for everyone - I lost mine at a BMI of 19!) the body shuts down certain functions.

Completely AWOL. Honestly, I fell into the fitness trap about a year ago when I thought I was 'fine' and 'recovered' but apparently not. I had to leave college etc. I'm now trying to get myself out of that hole! How about you anon? How are you?

Top self harm distractions?

Mine is playing the guitar :-) but things like reading, going for a walk, going to the gym (if you do NOT have an ED!), going to a nice coffee shop and getting stuck in to work or projects you've got to do. Anything that makes you happy - even if that's eating a bowl of ice cream and strawberries and watching your favourite film!

I think I'm developing social anxiety and I'm really worried about it. I'm too scared to use public transport, go out places or see my family. How can I tackle this issue before it gets way out of hand? I don't want to feel so anxious and upset about doing these things 😔

i have an abusive parent (both emotionally and also pretty severely physically with beating me etc). They've just been diagnosed as terminally ill and likely be dead by the end of the year. Am I am awful person for feeling oddly relieved... I feel so guilty but I grew up feeling nothing but fear 😓

I don't think they refer to it as a pint party! But probably. Some do and some don't!

When can you class yourself as "recovered"?

For me, it was when I stopped thinking about food every second of the day and didn't lie in bed at night calculating my calories for the day!

Can you give me some dinner ideas please. I've just had a massive breakdown because I'm fed up of eating the same things again and again, and I really want to vary my diet more. I don't have a dietician so I can't just ask them.

Is eating 1600-1700kcal a day for a sedentary 5'3" 19-year old girl enough? And 1800kcal for days I do exercise (2-3 times a week). I always feel full by the end of the day but feel restricted in food choices (ie no chocolate but fruit instead)

Depends on your weight. I'd say if you're at a healthy weight and you feel full that's fine! In terms of food choices, choose a day of the week (like Saturday!) and just fit a chocolate bar in somewhere within your calories.

I'm absolutely petrified of restricting my calories because I know it will mess up my metabolism and what not but it makes me feel like a massive fake. I'm just so scared that it will make me gain weight so I don't think I'll ever restrict my calories again. Does this mean I'm a fake 😰

Nope! As long as when you're at a healthy weight and recovered you're not shoving in food when you're not hungry just for the sake of it then you're all good! :-)

I've got a fear of salad because it's what I ate when I was at my lowest and it triggers me but I feel like such a fake because the option is there for me to have salad but I turn it down for a higher calorie option. Idk what to do to overcome this silly fear of mine??

I kinda had the same issue because I felt like I wanted to 'save' my calories for tasty food when I was ill so for a while I wouldn't eat fruit or salads or whatever, the best thing to do is just eat one if you feel like it. You'll eventually feel comfortable again! Besides, eating higher calorie options while recovering is not at all an issue! :-)
