This a month late, sorry! I've actually used quite a few so this answer may get kind of long.
MyAnimeList - The only one I've ever really stuck with. The forums and its moderation are, from what I can gather, pretty shitty to be honest. I've always disliked how the mods on the forums would delete so-called "listing" threads in the Anime discussion board since I've always noticed that these kinds of threads can and usually do lead to actual discussion among people. Plus I'm still bitter about being called a Muslim terrorist from California by someone on there and the mod blaming me for it and also deleting my posts. It's nice having some actual moderation though, even if it usually is kind of shitty. Some of the topics are fun to engage in and there are occasionally some interesting ones as well. It's just a shame that the userbase and general moderation brings down the quality of discussion and what not. Oh, and the layout for the MAL forums is perfect to me. Part of the reason why I've stuck with it for so long. The comments system is pretty efficient for discussing anime with actual individuals as well, so I've always been fond of that.
Crunchyroll - The forum layout for this isn't all that bad either, but holy shit these forums are so, so childish. I'm talking anime meme childish. Crunchyroll, for the most part, are the type of forums I would use if I was relatively new to the medium and isn't really a very good resource for legitimate discussion. The fun discussions that do take place though are usually outweighed by the more or less immature userbase and allowed topics. It works pretty well for the type of people who are just looking to shitpost anime and not have much of a discussion I guess, but otherwise it's really not for me. (I just went on their anime discussion and one of the top threads is Anime Motivational Posters. Bye) I hate how the profile comments are set up too. It's in such a small corner and it looks more like a space for people to just post "hi!" or "Ily" than it does to leave actual comments.
Anime-Planet - I can't even remember anything about the forums or means of discussion on this website since I used it for such a short period of time. The overall childish feel of this website as well put me off from exploring it much further than creating a profile and adding liked/disliked characters. Comments weren't too bad either, but I never really had a discussion there.
AniList - I only really used the AniList forums during its initial development and haven't been on there much since, but I do recall not being a big fan of their forum layout. Felt too large and clunky for my tastes. The quality of the posts wasn't all that bad though, but then again the site was JUST starting off so it'd be kind of worrying if there were already a bunch of terrible threads and users. I don't even know if there was/is an option to comment on each others profiles on this site.
So basically, despite its flaws, MAL works the best imo
