Have you played Beastmaster and Prince in Japanese? If you did, then what did you think of the game?

I haven't, but the general consensus from my friends who have is that the game is very good. I figure it has to be for it to have been ported so many times!

Lorelei is the worst thing to make anagrams out of because it's mostly vowels. D:

oh hell yes! i've never bought a rejet vita port before (was planning to get ken ga kimi but ended up discovering wasurenagusa and spending all my money on as many of those as i could afford, oops) so i didnt know what it'd be like. i might get it then! thank you for the help!!

Understandable, haha. Ken ga Kimi is super good, though, so I hope you'll give it a try when you can!

hey, lore. do you have any idea if the new bws game is just a port or if it has new contact? idk of you've seen it but it's called weiß und schwartz and i think its jsut a port but my japanese is t errible

It's a Vita port! weiß is Last Hope and Schwartz is Bloody Nightmare so it seems like they're porting both games together. They might add a bit of new content, though, like new CGs and stuff. Rejet tends to do that with their Vita ports.

Do you believe that global peace is attainable?

I think that we can attain a relative kind of peace, but humans will be humans so we'll always be squabbling over land or power or something, even if on a smaller scale.

I'm planning to start my first ren'py project sometime this Spring. If I may ask, is it okay if I sent it to you to read when I finish?

Unfortunately, I don't think I have the time to read through other people's scripts. ;; I barely get to play my friends' games as it is, you know? There's a tier on my Patreon where I'll give people tips or advice re: their VN projects, but I don't think I can read through an entire VN/script on demand. Still, I wish you the absolute best!!

Thank you for the help and the quick response! I was worrying because the majority of VNs targeted at girls only seem to have 1 "lesbian route" or none at all.

No problem! Sometimes I take a while to answer these haha;; I just happened to be around and free this time. But yeah I think that's an old norm that's due to a lack of resources, not a lack of interest.

I'm currently developing a VN with an ambiguously gendered "hero/ine" and both male and female possible love interests. Do you think the fact the dateables are more than one gender would make it harder to market and actually make commercial?

Nah, don't think so! Quite the opposite, I would think. Winter Wolves does quite well with that and there's BioWare and all... It'd be harder to slap a label on the game, perhaps, but I think more people would actually appreciate the diversity of characters and choices.

(same asker) I just remembered, didn't you also face a lot of criticism for translating diabolik lovers by tumblr users?

I wouldn't say /a lot/ haha I got a handful of people saying things like "Eww Diabolik Lovers is so gross and misogynistic, you must be a deluded misogynist/stupid fangirl/idiot/promoter of domestic violence to like it!" No skin off my back if people attack me over their really bad misinterpretations (spoonfed to them by other people) of Diabolik Lovers. Also, I will be one of the first people to agree that Diabolik Lovers is terrible. I love it in spite of that. :'D
tl;dr yeah I faced criticism, but I would hesitate to call it "a lot". I drew back from the fandom more because I didn't like the entitlement I saw there and also my interest in the franchise has waned some.

I know this is the question everyone dreads to hear, but what is your opinion on the current tumblr climate? (moa's current situation kinda made me think of this question, even tho im not positive their harassers are from tumblr)

To be completely honest, I feel pretty insulated from all that stuff. I have a couple thousand followers on Tumblr but aside from the occasional pushy request to translate something or vague complaints about my "popularity" in the Diabolik Lovers fandom, I have never had to deal with harassment or abuse.
However, I dealt with plenty of harassment and extremely rude comments (like KILL YOURSELF, etc) when I was using LiveJournal. I've gotten nasty tweets sent to me and oh man Plurk was a cesspool when I used it.
My point is that all social media has its pockets of abusers and terrible people. I really feel that Tumblr often gets the brunt of all the public ire because it's associated with teenaged fangirls. Because teenaged fangirls are sooo stupid and misguided, right? Never mind the vile stuff happening elsewhere on the internet. Like Reddit? 4chan? Tumblr is hardly the only place where people try to drive others away or hurl abuse at them, it's just the most publicized. As with all other places, your mileage will vary. I've had an overwhelming majority of pleasant experiences on Tumblr and I'm probably not the only person. Does it have its problems? Sure. Are some people (especially in this case with Moa) really misguided and awful? Sure. But that's the same everywhere.

With all the adopts that you have, whats a good way to start off making a bio for them. Like how do you organize your thoughts out ? Because I have a hard time starting it off.

The first thing I do is figure out where they fit into whatever story/universe I'm trying to put them in. What kind of job/status do they have? Who do they know and how are they connected to the setting? Basically, I have to decide on their role first. Oftentimes with adopts since their appearance is already decided, I try and connect their role to their appearance. So if they're dressed more formally, chances are they're of a higher class or something like that.
After that, I try to hammer out their personality. As I write up their personality, I naturally think of what background/history they would have had to make them that way. If a character is distrustful of others, what caused that? Did someone inspire them to be kinder or more heroic?
From there I just elaborate on what I've got, fleshing these details out as I connect them to more characters. /o/ Hope that helps!

What lead you to developing strong (along with stubborn!) visual novel protagonists like Shuuki and Nara?

While I don't have a problem with nicer, gentler protagonists, of course, I personally really like to see and write clashes between characters. It's much easier and more entertaining for me to have two characters butt heads when they're both very outspoken and stubborn. For example, writing the banter between Nara and Haiyue or Shuuki and Yukinari is immensely satisfying for me.
Also, I wanted to try something different from the many VNs I've played up until now. In a lot of romantic VNs, the protagonist is there to facilitate the character development for the love interests. The love interests change a lot while the protagonist mostly stays the same. The protagonist is the kind rock that supports the love interests and agrees with most of what they say while gently pushing them along towards their culminating arc. However, I wanted to write stories where the protagonist has character development, too. In most cases, a nice, quiet, polite protagonist doesn't have as much developing to do as someone very flawed and hurt like Shuuki or Nara.
However, I don't want to pigeon-hole myself. I don't think that being strong means you have to be outspoken and stubborn. So in the future I'd like to play with that a bit more and have protagonists who develop in more subtle ways, perhaps. I'm always experimenting, haha. <3

What lead you to writing BCM in third person rather than first like most other visual novels?

I think shortly before working on BCM, I'd played some Japanese BL game where the main character's sprite was on the screen with the other characters' sprites rather than being a side sprite or whatnot. I thought that was more interesting and engaging, bringing the protagonist in with the others and making the player more of an outsider looking in on these events.
Also, originally we'd planned BCM to be two games. I was planning on writing Shuuki's game in third person present tense and Natsume's game in third person past tense for ~symbolic reasons~.

This might be a strange question, but I'm kinda confused on the use of adoptables. A lot of people don't allow a use for them in commercial works, and for the most part it just looks like people kinda...collect them. And that's it. So I don't get why people would pay a money to do that

I mean, why do people pay money to collect stuffed animals or trading cards? Or spend money on gachas in Japanese mobile games? In the end, adoptables are a luxury item. People have various uses for them: to RP with, to write stories about, to commission or draw art of, or simply to collect. And some people have found that they don't mind paying money to have that.
Most adopt artists I've talked to are actually okay with commercial use as long as you're not selling their original art of the design or selling their concept, if that makes sense. Though of course, it varies from artist to artist.
For me personally, I guess the allure of adopts is a mixture of wanting to collect, being inspired by certain designs, wanting to write about them/own them, and adoptables being a pick-me-up? Some of my adoptables I just stare at when I'm in a bad mood, haha. They're very soothing.
Don't know if that helps you, but that's how I see it.

Why do you think people look down on/shame mental health topics and treat them as a joke? Is it because people are ignorant, or is it because there are people who just think they're superior because they ~aren't ill~/aren't diagnosed? Do you think we need to raise awareness even more?

I don't know if it's superiority, I think most people are just ignorant. I majored in psychology, but I still have my parents and other people tell me a lot that "psychology isn't a real science" and stuff. My family's response to my anxiety and depression tends to be "get over it". I think because mental health isn't as obviously noticeable as physical health, it gets treated like a non-problem. Depressed? Well just cheer up! Like that actually works. Even if they have mental disorders themselves, some people will still refuse to admit that it's a problem. And this view has been reinforced over the years by popular media. Awareness needs to be raised, but we're fighting against centuries of stereotypes and misinformation, so it's not going to happen overnight.
