Should I read A Monster Calls? (It's been on my TBR list for a long time but I'm worried it's not as good as I expected)

YES YOU SHOULD. But if you can, don't expect anything when you go into it. Makes the book so much better. Pick it up right now!

Have you read Angelfall and Daughter Of Smoke & Bone?

I tried reading Angelfall, meh. Planning on reading DoSB though, just don't know when I'll get to that... (my TBR shelf is super full you see)

I think, if we're lending/borrowing the books w the other bibliophile, they will take care our baby as good as it theirs :D anyway, you may want to know about Lendabook (100% Indonesia Book Swap Website!)

THAT EXISTS?? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INFO! <3

I'm looking for a heartbreaking book that is beautifully written just like The Book Thief and Between Shades Of Gray. Any recommendation? :)

A Monster Calls is a great one, even if the writing isn't as pronounced as the two you mentioned. :)

relating w the previous question & idea about book swap, that's the reason why me & tisa made a book club: Surabaya Book Readers bcs we want to know who are the english book readers so we can do the book swap since we don't have much money to buy physical book :D

It's wonderful to see book clubs growing all around Indonesia. There are SO MANY english readers here, and that's just amazing! Problem with book swaps, though, is that some people are scared of sending their books away to strangers (myself included), so I'm still brainstorming ideas on how to fix that little problem. :')

Hi, do you have some good advices for those who want to read and also own physical english book but just couldnt really afford much? Like you want to read so many books but your budget is minimum? Oh yes, we can use the bookclubid gathering for borrowing/lending each other's book!:D

I say if you can't afford much, for for e-books. But if you really want to own physical books, then save up, my dear! Look for a book you REALLY want to own and save up for that one thing. Save 5k a day and you'll be more than able to buy a book at the end of the month. I'd recommend buying it from B&B since their prices are comparably cheaper than other bookstores, and you can also borrow your friend's membership card to receive an extra discount.
A book swap then? That's a great idea! Thanks for your input love, and good luck! xx

so... any plans on Book Club ID gathering?

This is a toughie. I really don't mind setting one up, I'm just confused on what we'd actually do once the mass gathers. Any suggestions?

Do you ever consider being a writer/author?

I've considered it in the past, but I don't think I'm qualified, creative or imaginative enough to be one. I'm better at speaking you see... :')

oh well, I really regret I couldn't make to meet you when I was in Jkt for my internship. reading your answers here makes me want to have convo w you. I think it'll be very fun! :)

Aw dear, you're too sweet! I'm sure we'll have the chance to meet in the future. Tell me when you're in town! :)

Have you ever read the Chicken Soup books? Are they as inspiring as what people always say?

Yes, I have! I think I read 3 different versions when I was about 11/12 years old, and it stuck with me until now. It serves as a great moral compass, I feel. There's no loss in trying them out, love!

What are your favourite non-fiction books?

I can count the number of non-fiction books I've read with one hand, and I can't even remember the title of others except for Life Without Limits by Nick Vujicic. He's a very inspiring guy, and I really enjoyed that book.

When did you start reading english books? And what was your first book you've ever read?

I can't remember, but I'm gonna say about 5 or 6 years old. The earliest one I remember was a Peter the Rabbit book that was full of beautiful illustrations.

which college are you planning to go to?

This is a tough one.. My dream school(s) have always been Oxford and Yale, but they're way too far-fetch. I really want to go to the UK, and I'll probably be applying to Birmingham Uni, York, Liverpool. But if I do decide to go for business I'll probably apply to China (not sure which Unis tho). HK's also a top choice for me: CUHK (again, quite far-fetch. Straight As for A levels man. Idek)

Sometimes your Indonesian seems so...formal. Can you speak informal Indonesian?

I thought it was the other way around, haha! Bisa kok ;) Bahasa's probably my 3rd language, so maybe that's why I sound so rigid at times.

How was it? I just finished my IGCSEs too about few weeks ago! :)

Lots of studying, but I think I took it more seriously than my IGCSEs. A fair warning though, love, AS levels is a HUGE leap from IGCSE. So please prepare yourself well, and choose A level subjects that you've already taken beforehand! (Or else you'll be supaaaaaaaa stressed out). (But let's talk about the days off we get)(Aren't they amazing)

I think it's better than the PJO series, with multiple povs and all.

Might give it a shot then, thank you! :)

Do you know about the HOO series? And have you read it?

Rick Riordan, right? I have not... I tried getting into the PJO series and that failed quite a bit. Would you say that HOO is better, though?
