Can you do fingerspin like tricks with yo-yos that have spikes?

Not really...the spikes mean that you have precisely 0% margin for error to catch the return top spinning right on the center of that spike. If you miss, your finger is gonna get torqued by that spike and it's unpleasant. -Steve

Do you have a job outside of clyw Steve? If you do, what is it?

I'm completely self-employed...which means I have a few jobs. ;)
I'm a stay-at-home dad first and foremost. Been doing that since my son was born. I handle Marketing duties for CLYW, I run bgradeyoyos.com, I do some freelance copy writing for a few different companies, and I manage web stores for a couple of friends of mine (Chris Ryniak & Amanda Louise Spayd).
It's all work that I can do from home and move around my own schedule, so I get to take care of my kids and really be there for them while still working to provide for my family. It's hard to balance work/life sometimes, but this gives me much more opportunity to be a present and involved father. -Steve

Steve looks like Bob Ross in that picture! you should do a "happy trees" colorway to commemorate it xD

Ha ha...I love Bob Ross! Fun fact, he used to donate all those paintings he did on his show to NPR for them to auction off during fundraisers for the station. -Steve

You can make a "autumn forest" colourway ... dark green with brown splash and light brown (honey colour) speckles ... I think it´d look awesome !

I like that! I always like dark earth-tones on return tops. Although they don't seem to sell very well, so we probably won't. -Steve

sasquatch X chief X bonfire ... what is better for you (I can't tried)

I haven't spent a whole lot of time with the Sasquatch, but my impression is that it will out-spin pretty much everything else we make. The Bonfire is a close second in terms of spin & stability, and the Chief is third in that department. That said, I find myself reaching for the Chief more often as a 1A throw and the Bonfire for 5A. -Steve

can I have a free summit

No. But next time you want to glom a free product off someone, here are a few ideas for a better approach:
1. Submit a picture of yourself pointing a gun at a watermelon with the caption "Send me free return tops or the melon gets it."
2. Take a pic of yourself dressed like a caribou, holding an empty return top case, with a single tear falling down your cheek.
3. Write a haiku or limerick about why we should send you something.
I'm not saying any of these are gonna work, especially now that I've laid them out for you, but at the very least they will make the entire process of strangers asking for free products a lot more enjoyable for everyone. -Steve

you should make a yoyo with rubber rims so it would be walk-the-dog proof

That was all the rage in the late 90s and lemme tell ya...it didn't work that well. -Steve

where can i buy a yeti? i got robbed like six month ago and they took my backpack that was with my chief :c so i got out of the yoyo world for a while but now i want to get a yeti and i can't find one anywhere any re-stocks coming soon?

We're hoping to have more available soon. -Steve

What if there were colourways under colourways... So the colours only come out and peek through when damage occurs?

I know Mark Montgomery did a kind of cool thing like that with (I think) the Markmont Next, where he did an indigo coating of some kind that wore away with use and had black or something underneath...or maybe it was the other way around? I remember it looked really cool, and I asked him about it recently and he said it was super hard to do, and that they couldn't get anyone to make it for them anymore. Bummer! -Steve

How does the bonfire play?

Fantastically. It's been my favorite for counterweight for the past couple of months. Really stable, holds spin well, and moves plenty fast. -Steve

what kinda differences does the shape of a yoyo make on your play?

Shape changes the feel, weight distribution, spin times, string friction, stability...pretty much all the attributes of a return top. That said, what shape you choose is still very much a matter of personal preference. -Steve

Steve, with you being in the US, what challenges do you face in being so physically distant from the rest of the CLYW crew? What technologies do you guys use to make your job easier? (ie Google Hangouts, Webex?) thanks!

The biggest challenge is just keeping the communication open between myself, Chris, and Charles. But we've done a pretty good job of staying organized so far...Chris and I talk every single day via iMessage and email, and we all use an online task manager called Trello to make sure everything gets done.
Mostly I wish Chris and I were closer to each other because I just love being around the guy. It would be great to have him and his family over for dinner and just hang out while our kids are all cute and crazy. -Steve

Everybody asks about more yoyos at a cheaper price, but that's not you. There's an excitement to searching for that limited throw you're after, or knowing your yoyo is one of only ten. Personally, I love the size of your company now! Seriously people, in the grand scheme of things, what's $120?

Well, it IS something we're working on. But the thing is...what CLYW considers "more" isn't anywhere near the size of production runs for someone like Duncan or YoYoFactory.
We've got some ideas on how to make CLYW return tops a little easier for our fans to get but don't worry...they'll still be pretty limited. -Steve

why is 28 stories called that?

The name (and the actual colorway) are taken from this book. A portion of the proceeds from these return tops is donated yearly to Doctors Without Borders, a charity that we like to support. This is something that Chris started doing at the very beginning of things, and it's no small coincidence that DWB is one of the charities that I support yearly as well. -Steve

So I was watching Fantasia 2000 with my daughter earlier, and there's totally a scene with a flamingo Yo-Yoing and pissing the other ones off because of it. Are you familiar!?!?

Yep. I remember it being a big deal to return top players at the time that Disney actually paid a player (I don't remember who) do do a bunch of tricks on camera so the animators had real return top play to model from. -Steve
