For the sake of your own peace of mind, either you stop every association or choose the present one. But then again, it all depends on you. Analyzing your own feelings is important in this matter. Forget being rational for a while (and what I mean abt being rational here is considering what the majority thinks of doing the right thing). By being honest in what you really feel, you'll avoid being unfair on both sides.

However, I was thinking twice abt the statement given, the first sentence specifically. How can you still have feelings with your past lover when it clearly said that you are madly in love with the current one? 😕 because if you still do have residues of the past, then you're not really in love with the present one (just saying)
