I completely understand what you mean. Sometimes you just need that little bit of preparation time to gather all the thoughts and things that need and want to be said, but also how to say it.
I think it’s best to remember as well though, that you prepare yourself to be ready to listen and understand as well. Just as you want to be heard and understood, I’m sure they do too.

No, not really a break ever because I feel like complete time away doesn’t really help anything but create more distance. Maybe a point in the relationship comes where you find that there is a time that requires some work through and to communicate about things, and hope to make it out still ok and happy with one another. If not, at least you’ll both know you tried.

Personality or looks?
I think this question has always been kinda silly, because I think both matter. After some dating, the personality aspect is always going to be something that needs to flow between both. If there is not a personality match in anyway and you just don’t really have anything in common, then ok not a good idea to continue. The initial decision to go on a “date” though in my opinion is always going to consist of looks and your attraction to that person. In order to have a romantic relationship, attraction is always going to be a first and personality is learned.
