"Directing ability" is too vague a term for me to make any sort of comment on....all sound directors have their own quirks & styles, there is no one person necessarily better than the other. For example, Iwanami Yoshikazu loves adlibs. Tsuruoka Yota gives his actors a free hand. Aketagawa Jin likes animated, OTT performances.
Also, (more than) half of a sound director's job is already done by the time the cast is determined so you could look at that as a measure of their performance - did they get the right people in for the job?

It's not because of any one role in particular. Just an interesting body of work overall, plus her natural low-pitched voice is totally my kind of thing. Kobayashi Sanae, Kobayashi Yu, Inoue Marina, Honda Takako, Tanaka Atsuko, Paku Romi etc - my tastes are very obvious.

Uh I'm not an audiophile or anything, I don't even own a CD player or any speakers. Basically all my music listening is done on the car stereo or home/work laptop + whatever cheap earbuds i have on hand. Right now it's Skullcandy Ink'd 2 which I like for the bass boost.
