Okay, not only is this guy one of the biggest stars we have ever produced, he is a GENIUS. He an EXCEPTIONAL musician, he's not one of those artists that just sings and plays a bit of guitar now and then, he does it ALL. He writes the lyrics, comes up with how he wants it all to be played, produces it all, he doesn't just write a good song and stick it on his latest album, he needs the song to be exceptional, and he always delivers. His first album 'David Bowie' (which no one ever listens to) is such an amazing piece of work! This debut album wasn't a big hit which is a shame, but I loved it! The album that launched his career 'Space Oddity' was just amazing! Space Oddity, the single, is probably his most famous piece, that's all most people know him for, but seriously people...The Man Who Sold The World (NOT A NIRVANA SONG), Changes, Oh! You Pretty Things, Life on Mars?, Queen Bitch, Moonage Daydream, Starman, Ziggy Stardust, Suffragette City, The Jean Genie, Diamond Dogs, Rebel Rebel, Young Americans, Fame, Golden Years, Heroes, Fashion, China Girl, Let's Dance, I COULD GO ON. They are all so amazing and I just find it ridiculous that he's remembered for that song, when in my opinion, that's not even his best piece of work by a long shot. He's also an outstanding actor, starring in films and plays, one of which 'The Elephant Man' was just him, no make up, no crazy clothes, doing a pure role, putting everything he had into each performance and delivering an amazing play. He faced big problems in his career as a gay man and showing that through the persona of Ziggy Stardust, he got even more criticism for it, and we think it's bad now...back then it was far worse and unusual. But he fought through that and still managed to put out album after album. He got on with it. He was strong. And on a personal level he has been my idol, people that know me will know I had a hard childhood, and he was my escape, because I was so different from everyone, I felt as though me and him are connected. I was raised listening to him, and it was the one thing that made me feel better again, because in all honesty if it wasn't for his music, I would be in such a big mess right now. So when people say bad things about him, it literally feels like someone has punched me in the gut, he means so much to me, even though I haven't met him, and never will, he is and always will my idol. I love you Robert Jones <3
