What is your opinion on physical punishment? Do you think its okay to give children a spanning or do you prefer the calmer route and talk it out with them and give ultimatums? I personally would never be violent with my children.
Studies have shown time and time again that spankings are not as damaging as many people claim, but they also show that they are not at all useful in teaching a child right from wrong. Talking to them and clearly explaining things does. Timeouts, while being the child rearing method choice of pretty much all comedians to mock, actually does work. It forces them to cool off and think about things, and gives you time to do the same before talking to them and explaining why they should not have done whatever it is that they did.
