What would be some of your favourite osts in anime?

Natsume Yujincho might be my favorite if only because it's the most memorable, but it does a fantastic job of setting the mood, love that clarinet.
Space Adventure Cobra is also really good, so are Baccano! A Woman Named Fujiko Mine, One Piece (the first ~250 episodes), Mushi-shi, Michiko to Hatchin, and Star Blazers are all favorites too.

your favorite anime girls are...

I'm pretty sure I've answered this before but always happy to shoutout Nico Robin, Fujiko Mine, Aoi Miyamori, Midori Imai, and Lum. Rin from NEW GAME! was very good though, don't forget her.

The recent Funi/Crunchy partnership is bragged by CR about for finally being able to beat the bidding wars (which had helped Japan's anime industry flourish by setting their own prices), right away tho StellaNoMahou/VividStrike didn't get licensed due to the lower price. Why was the deal a good thing

Both of those titles were licensed by Amazon though? Is there something I missed with the "bragging" bit? I don't remember seeing that.

Don't you feel a little bit off when using Lupin3 as your avatar n then playing the moral high ground about how 'stealing' by watching anything by means other than legal streaming is wrong, even when there's no other option? Lupin would support the gentleman thief style of leveling the playing field

This is a really dumb question!!
I don't feel off at all. Lupin is a cartoon. He's not real, and neither are his actions!! But more importantly, if you feel I'm "playing the moral high ground" by saying "artists deserve to get paid, actually" so "don't steal from them if you can help it" then you're in an interesting moral foundation to begin with. I never say that legal streaming is the only option, but folks act like "it's ok as long as you buy merch" which a) it's not and b) people don't buy the merch. When I say people don't buy the merch, I mean broadly, from pirates. Folks who *don't* pay KissAnime to steal their anime for them spend more on merchandise, surprise surprise!
"Even when there is no other option" is the biggest nonsense I've seen on Ask.FM. I only ever ask that people watch legally *where they can*, and that if they *do* pirate, to do so in a way that isn't directly funding the piracy complex and paying thieves. Even using Ad Blocker has dramatically negative results for the anime industry, and you're still paying some shitlord halfway around the world to host HorribleSubs rips. Don't do it. If you're going to pirate, do the hard work yourself and don't give yourself a virus, it's (obviously) not hard. Don't ever use illegal streaming sites no matter what!!
It's kind of like when folks compare anime "piracy" to One Piece. Luffy wouldn't watch anime on some shady-ass illegal site and then feel good about himself for it, have you even watched One Piece???

So your personal stance if something isn't available legally is to just go without watching it? You gave up on watching one of KyoAni's best works, Hyouka, for that reason? Despite how you tout that you're a big fan of KyoAni?

Hello person who asked me a dozen questions of increasing length, all about anime piracy or my company.
My personal stance is what I say all the time: watch legally, wherever you can. Period. Not that I hold others to this, but I personally don't watch anime that's not available legally in any form, but I've certainly gotten some .ass files and applied them to BDs I've imported in the past (Angel's Egg, for example) but I've got so much anime to watch legally that I've stopped even doing that. I love PA Works too, but I still haven't watched all of their anime, either!
I used to pirate anime, but as I learned and researched I've had little inclination to do so, and by the time I had started my job at CR I had stayed clear of piracy with a notable exception or two for quite some time.
It's frustrating though that three of my "Top 10" of all time have no legitimate Western release - I hope I can eventually change that!!

Why are you on here and not Curious Cat?

I've never put enough research into anonymous question apps to figure out which one I should be on.

What is your favorite drink?

Depends on the time of day!
Between 5am - 11am, it's coffee.
Until 5pm, it's Dr. Pepper.
It's beer from 5pm - maybe 9? and then it's whiskey.

Some people from the Crunchycast facebook community have discussed making their own anime based podcast - what do you think of this?

So long as you don't use the words "Crunchyroll" or "Crunchycast" in the title/marketing, it seems like something that'd be cool - let me know when there's an episode to listen to!

I think Masamune-kun is actually good. : ( Like it just as much as Nisekoi if im being honest.

I was originally watching it as something completely non-essential, but now I'm invested myself - I'm happily surprised!! Definitely not what I expected.

Do you think you would be as active in promoting legal streaming if you didn't work directly for a streaming company? It appears that many of your posts could be viewed as a sales pitch for your company, and not entirely altruistically.

Oh, absolutely. Tbh, I'd be more free to do even more, and because there wouldn't be any even illusions of mixed motives, it'd be a lot more effective.
I speak out about piracy more than ever because my job has let me meet tons of folks on the JP side of the industry and hear their perspectives, and it's shown me *first hand* some of the impacts of piracy. I'm equipped with a lot of perspective and I'm *personally* outraged because of what I see.
I don't make any money from doing this, I don't get any brownie points at work, there's no direct benefit from me to people watching legally - but I feel strongly about it so it's on my personal feed.

You mention "mainstream facing stuff". We didn't necessarily get into the fandom for the mainstream. Why should we care if mainstream things get made?

People *only* get into the fandom for the mainstream. And I'm talking about not only the shonen super hits like One Piece but the breakouts like AoT, OPM, YoI, and MP100.
These are things that get people into anime, bring them in. They also keep people around, and most people still watch them no matter how deep they go into anime. They are absolutely critical for the health of the industry and allowing your favorite shows to get made.

http://ask.fm/FrequentFlyerMiles/answers/139389872372 | To be honest, I am a bit skeptical about this. Are there any numbers/data out there that support this?

Read the Japanese anime business magazines, get drinks with producers, they'll talk about it. The Berserk producer mentioned that the anticipated Western audience helped get that anime going at AX. The FLIP FLAPPERS part is my belief, based on what producers have said about the current environment.
