How did people survive in Europe by the way though back in the day in winter (with winter lasting so long) with so much snow? You know, like before the industrial revolution?
They built rudimentary shelters out if whatever materials they had. One type was a stone structure with a thatched roof. They would use fire to stave off the cold.
