Stock they were pretty close to flush. If they stick out, play them down.

Not much. It holds the halves together. Some designs don't have much space down there so they are short. Some do and they are longer.

The pads on my Supernova are just about dead and I need to order some new ones... what size pads do they take? And just another question in general, would you recommend flowable silicon?
The pads in supernova are 19mm OD CBC pads. Pretty much the most common pad size in the industry. Flows keywords great. Clean and dry the part well before installing
