Russia just invaded the Ukraine. Thoughts?
Don't confront a nuclear power with a leader who leads like a thug. I'm convinced Putin's looking to make an example of the US, and he has the upper hand strategically. Putin cheated on every treaty that the US conformed to since the end of the cold war.
Things may be bad, and they will get worse for Ukraine. The US must act in its own best interests and not get involved. If we do get involved, New York City and Washington DC will be the most likely pawns to fall in a nuclear gambit.
It is not worth confrontation and American lives at this point to be involved. We must conserve our strategic strength to deter China from Taiwan and North Korea from South Korea, which we do have great strategic interests in maintaining the current status quo. If we get involved in Ukraine in any way whatsoever, we will lose more than a million American lives and strategic deterrence in every other area of our interests.
