Don't need a excuse if you don't want to attend that's your choice and your right and it isn't anyone else's business you're not required to share your reasons for that everybody deals with those situations in their own way
None I can think of. Unless you know that your friend wouldn't have wanted you to. Like, if your friend thought you couldn't take it.

The reason people go to funerals is for strength and stability in difficult times. If you were so hurt yourself that you were unable to bring yourself to go, then chances are you couldn't have helped anyone else...possibly only make it worse for others by seeing your pain.
