What has been your favourite experience in life so far?
The most worthwhile things are those which involve effort, so I'd say my yearly completion of https://treesforlife.org.uk/volunteer/conservation-weeks/accommodation/athnamulloch-cottage/ is the most fulfilling part of my life.
It's not much fun to do the work but the camaraderie and the scenery make up for the hardship, and the hardship is necessary; the feeling of having done it is much better than the doing it.
Around the house everyone pitches in doing such work as they can, the leaders are leaders and servants, not dictators, and never need to tell people what to do as anyone who sees a job that needs doing will just do it if they can.
I suppose all of life can't be like that (we all chose to be there, and 99% of folk wouldn't) but I hope I've permanently learnt from Athnamulloch in the rest of my life.
Here we are walking home from the hill.
