I can't think of anymore. Hope that's long enough of a list :)

most recent book you"ve read?

I'm currently reading Half of a Yellow Sun by Adichie, and the prose is like poetry. I feel so proud that an African writer is writing about the effects of British/White imperialism as most countries were gaining independance . It's so sad that we were led to believe our hair and skin and accent were lesser than fair hair and white skin and a British accent.
Before that I read the Harry Potter series for the first time and it was like god opened his soul to me, no joke. What an enlightening experience. I learnt so much about pacing and plot mysteries... and Romione ❤

what are you listening to rn? i need new music haha

GO LISTEN TO BETTY WHO'S ALBUM. It's the best I have heard since 1989...so good. Soooooooooooo GOOD! *screams really hard and jumps up and down*
Just go listen to it and thank me later.

do you ever have self esteem problems?

Doesn't everybody? I have days where I have to put towels over every mirror in the house, and days when I can spit a Nicki Minan verse because I feel so fine.
The real culprit, at least for me, is anxiety. So I try to wear clothes that people will skim over when I go out, and if one person makes eye contact with me, then I feel as though the entire world is watching me, like it's live television.

i guess ive had a lot of practice binging tv shows after the exams tbh. i think ive finally become a pro. (i feel so accomplished) haha i know what you mean! i wish i had what it takes to write a fantasy epic novel and like create my own world with all its intricacies

Same here. I actually tried to write my own fantasy series and got stuck with the world building part. Kudos to GRRM because it takes brains to come up with a world so complex.

i was meant to be a bloody westerosi warrior. the politics, the deaths, the wars, the white walkers omg. its so intense (literally the best show ever even if i hate the fact that they ambush you with boobs every five minutes)

ladouchette’s Profile PhotoHerbie Sr.
It's just such an incredible world. I have a hard time believing that it's fictional. Worlds that intricate can't be just 'made up'.
I get the same feeling with the Harry Potter universe, too. I believe that the authors stumbled upon their world and wrote down what they experienced on their travels.
I know it sounds insane but I just can't wrap my mind around Westeros. You should try reading the encyclopedia for it when you're done with the books. It's my favourite thing ever--especially the drawings of all the paat Targaryen kings.

*breathes heavily* I love game of thrones. i finished all five seasons in three days and a half and im reading the first book rn and ive never felt so many emotions before and I literally think it's the best show ever and omg i have to wait until next year for the next season and ofkqiakeyjsna

THREE DAYS?!
Holy shit... Now THAT is what I call binge watching.

If you could travel the world with only one person who would you take?

So I just recently started watching The Flash without knowing that the Arrow existed, so now I'm really upset because there are all these minor crossover characters, subplots and inside jokes that I can't understand. All because I didn't so my freaking research.
Also, Barry Allen is the definition of bae.

are you doing a meetup???

Leigh (@leighonwattpad) and Mariam (@whichbroomsticks) are planning a British meetup, so that should be really cool :)

i've followed you on twitter so if you want to follow me back i can DM you as/when i get more details about the meetup :)

Followed ya :)

hello! change of plans with the date of the meetup -- is the 17th okay with you?

Definitely! Thanks for letting me know :)

how many words on average to you write per chapter?

My chapters range from 5000-9000 words (which is crazy, I know). I'm working on cutting down on it.

lmao um, I think I only wanted to do the second one you mentioned but I'll search the pros and cons :) thanjs Kaddy

okok, hey again lmao, so, I've been writing this book called Looking for trouble but I took it down to like write it again and I'm not sure if I should write it in first or third person

SimplayJamsz’s Profile PhotoJamaira
The pros and cons of both narrative perspectives will take me forever to explain so I would advise you to google it.
But, just briefly, you should note that first person creates bias (which can be used very cleverly if you know how to) and it restricts you in the sense that you won't be able to explore other characters' thoughts and feelings. There are two types of third persons. One of them is basically identical to first person and o ly follows one character around, and the other one lets you explore more than one characters' thoughts and feelings (which I feel is the hardest out of the three).

how do you create book titles?

Sometimes they're the first thing I come up with, e.g. Listening to Lucas.
Sometimes I just choose randomly as long as it sounds cool or lures people in to read my story, e.g. Pinky Promises, Breaking the Bad Boy
Tbh, a book titles change all the time. In the industry, your publishers would most probably pick the title of the story for you. You will get a say in it, but what I'm trying to say is that titles aren't nearly as important as you think they are. The story should be your main focus.

how come you're writing Listening to Lucas? and those sound amazing :D

SimplayJamsz’s Profile PhotoJamaira
Lately I've been getting a lot of messages from my readers, saying things like: "You should really think about publishing this book."
And I always knew that LtL was something extraordinary because I had never -- not once before -- put so much of myself into a narrative.

heeeeey, Kaddy :) what new projects are you working on?

SimplayJamsz’s Profile PhotoJamaira
Hi, Jamaira :)
I have two new ongoing stories:
1) 'Pinky Promise'
- It's about two girls who fall in love at a school where they're taught circus magic in the curriculum. The main character, Holly Bishop, is the two-time winning champion of the end of year magic show and she wants to win her third year running..... (but things just keep on getting in her way).
2) I have no name for this story but it's includes 16 teenagers with superpowers who wake up on an alien planet with no recollection of their past.
But for now those projects are all on hold while I rewrite Listening to Lucas :D

So I checked your tumblr and holy shit the little posts that you make [especially the dead man pointing at the moon one] *.* I have them screenshotted because like wowowow. And ah, here's to hoping you get it done soon! Both the fantasy story and rewriting of LtL!

YES, THANK YOU ???
(okay. so i didnt get any work done yesterday but hopefully today will be more productive.)

hw far are you into rewriting LtL??

Just passed the 27k mark. Which is cool but I've still got about 50k left to go and the plot it getting a little too complicated so I'm going to go back to re-outlining tomorrow.
But it's 5:15am and I am so tired. I've been writing all day. I really want to get it done and over with so I can reread it and edit all the bits and bobs.

NOW IM EVEN MORE TEMPTED BC LIKE HELEN OF TROY!! And what fantasy story???

It's about these teenagers with superpowers but the storyline is so complex and I keep changing my mind about it. I really hope it clicks some time in the future :)

You described that so beautifully, oh my god. And I just saw that answer where you posted the letter you write and I screenshotted that for my and my friend's bad days, it's honestly so inspiring. Also, hang in there, you're gonna climb out soon xx I HAVE BEEN MEANING TO READ BOTH LTL & ELYSIUM AND

Omg... wow that's incredible! I can't even... ok... Wow.
And thank you so much. I really hope you enjoy them :D

Aw :/ is it something specific? Like family stuff or something or you'd rather not talk about it? On the bright side, you are writing!! Which is your main writing priority right now? I mean, which story? Or is it a mix of them all?

The best way I can describe it is:
Imagine you're falling downhill. The falling part is easy, but stopping is hard because the longer you fall, the faster you go. And even if you do manage to stop, you have to crawl back to the top again. Except that this hill is as steep as a wall.
Anyway, let's talk about writing. I start working on a fantasy series on and off for about 3 months but the plot is so complex that I'm setting the project aside for a while.
Then, there's rewriting LtL so it can have a shot at getting published. I've been doing that for about 2 weeks and I'm a third of the way done.
And when I get bored of all of that stuff, I work on Elysian which is my favourite creation ever. I just posted Helen of Troy's stort yesterday, in fact.

I'm pretty good, thanks. How's it going with you? I've been trying to finish up a story but I didn't really make a plan and now I'm kinda at a dead end. Any tips?

Khushi25’s Profile PhotoPrincess_Khushi
I am the worst when it comes to outlining a story so what I do when I meet dead ends is
1) Leave the story to sit for a while. 3 days minimum, 2 weeks maximums.
2) Go back and read the story from beginning to end.
3) Try to write that ending now that you know all the loose ends that need to be tied up.
Remember that your ending should answer every question you've asked in the story. The main character must have accomplished all that they set out to do.

:-) how are you?

Up and down. Mostly down. I've been distracting myself with movies a lot and pushing myself to write everyday so that's good :)

Are there times where you find yourself unable to deal with all the shit that life throwing at you?

A L L T H E T I M E.
I get overwhelmed really easily and have to sit in a dark room with my forehead pressed to the floor to keep it all in. It gets really bad sometimes.
But I've realised that if I was okay yesterday then I'll be okay tomorrow. Emotions are like clouds. They pass after the rain.
So hang in there, friend. You may feel miserable right now but when the sun comes out I promise that you'll feel much better.
(When I get dark and terrible thoughts I like to write letters to myself. It's a really good, therapeutic way of dealing with overwhelming urges. You should try it. Works for anything.)
Are there times where you find yourself unable to deal with all the shit that

I have somewhat been struggling with the transition from immediate school to high school. Advice on having a good high school life??

High school is going to be a ride even if you try to play it safe. I would tell you to learn from your mistakes. If something goes wrong: fix it. If you fail a test: study for it. If your friends make up stuff about you: find yourself new ones.
Don't wait around from Prince Charming. If you meet the love of you life then that's great, but don't waste your time getting upset over trivial stuff like boys and fashion. It'll change by the time you're finished with high school. Boys will grow into men, and fashion is the fastest changing industry. Yesterday's clothes are tomorrow's trash. It's okay if you don't have the coolest clothes or if the cutest boys don't pay attention to you.
Focus on making good friends who have similar interests to you and who will listen to the things you have to say. Remember that popularity doesn't exist outside high school (!!!!!!!!!!!) because the girls who have it all today will have nothing tomorrow. Trust me, I was that girl and I wish I had spent more time on maintaining friendships than I did chasing after popularity.
Just enjoy the ride. It's the last period in your life that you can have fun without the burden of responsibilities.
Finally, be kind to others and have empathy.

Are your parents are strict?

Definitely.
I've always thought that parents mistaken being strict with teaching discipline. I always tell my mum that she doesn't have to impose her authority upon me to get me to do something. If she asked nicely, she'd get the same results.
Again, it's something I have to work my way around. It's probably a good thing because I'm a bit of a rebel. I do crazy shit just to prove that I can... so I probably need to have strict parents more than others do.
