Why does it matter if a yoyo looks "almost similar" in colorway? A Zip Zap Ava and a "almost similar" YYF Horizon are far from the same. Not having a big pool of anodizers is not your fault. I really like this guys work btw. Don't worry bout "almost similar" stuff. Am I the only one who doesn't?

just saw a Yoyofactory horizon in the zip zap rap colorway. It looks almost similar. U guys need to come up with something unique - an anodizer not used by the big companies at least!

The problem is that there aren't many anodizers out there who can handle return tops well. In the past we've literally lost entire production runs of return tops to bad anodizing. So when you find one, get back samples that look good, and all the measurements work out right, you run with 'em!
We stuck with our main anodizer for a while, but two things happened: first, our look was getting kinda stale. It needed a refresh! Second, that anodizer was like 12 weeks behind over the holidays and we were in a position where we had a ton of product made and paid for and it was going to be months before we could sell it. That sort of thing can quite literally destroy a small business like CLYW. So we hunted around, found some new anodizers, started experimenting with new colors and new looks, found some stuff we liked, and ran with it.
Now, the unfortunate thing is that we later found out that yup...the reason this anodizer was doing so great with our stuff is that it looked like they were also doing return tops for other people. We never ask about their other clients and they don't volunteer that info...it would be kinda rude if they did.
So, the bummer is that yeah, other companies have stuff that looks similar to ours. But really, that's an industry-wide problem and no one has found a really good solution yet. So for now, I guess we'll all just have to keep on liking what we like, on our quest for the perfect, 1000% unique anodizer that is willing to work for us and literally no one else LOL. -Steve
