Are you doing the all arms commando course by any chance? I didn't think rotal artillery got a green beret I thought it was black. It's cool how your brothers joining up too! I come from a strong public services family so it makes sense to continue tradition :D
Yeah we do get a black one, sorry I was having a conversation with my pal about my favourite colour and I accidentally put green lol!

Thank you :) yeah like you say the proud factor is a big part for me, yeah I've heard commando training is the most intense of them all, but it's the satisfaction of earning that green beret.

Just the sheer fact that I know I'm doing good for the fucked up country I live in is enough for me, growing up I didn't have much I had a broken family, none of which I am proud of. I don't want that for my little girl, I want her to know who her parents are and what they do/did with their lives.
The satisfaction I will feel when I get handed my green beret will be just astounding, and what's even more great, is my little 16 year old brother is joining with me :') I've never been prouder of him in all my life
