hahahaha! i do the same though. But it's kind of like, if I see somebody saying shit, I'm not just gonna sit there and take it! I WILL call them out on it. It's gotten me into trouble sometimes, especially recently, but whatever, fuck them, fuck people. :P

I feel you, I've been told not to be ashamed or afraid of calling people out for being problematic, I mostly try to do it in a polite/positive manner, though (not that I look down on people who get mad. There's a lot to get mad about)

So as someone who's all for demanding others check their privilege, shouldn't you check yours before making a homophobic insult, even on a friend's status?

...Okay, this one I long saw coming. Eventually. Is that really the best you can do?
For a start, it's not even an insult. If I'd use the f slur (Which I never, ever do) then you would be right to claw my face off. But 'gay' is not a slur or insult and neither do I intend it as one. My throwing it around is just a bit silly, I've done it for ages, I do it with plenty of other friends who hate homophobia and none of them have a problem with it. Because it's not an insult nor is it treated as one. Hell, I use it to describe positive things.
...Also... You do realise I've made out with guys, right?

babe, technically, whenever somebody posts their opinion about something on "teh interwebz", they're always stirring shit. It's just that there are some nasties on the internet that'll look for ANY excuse to get at you. And, well, one of those is having an opinion different to theirs that they can p

This is very true.
And yet I cannot help myself from diving into internet arguments sometimes...
I'm such a masochist xP

whoa, what's goin on here, somebody seems to be getting a little anal because george said he's a feminist right? what the fuck hahaha (and before there's like a swarm of people going "nO WERE NOT" y'all only started getting on his ass when he said he WAS and that he disliked the MRA -continue-

(No comment again, though I feel like I'm stirring shit somewhat.
But then I guess that comes with any protest movement.)

FYI, at least one of the people asking these questions is a trans* person. I'm not the person who most recently mentioned trans*, but I agree with the question and saying that that question uses trans* people as chess pieces is fucking bullshit (sorry George, this is aimed at the asker, not you)

(I post without further comment)

Whoever keeps asking these questions sure likes using their trans* friends like they're fucking chess pieces.

I don't know if they're trans* friends of my own. This is the last question I'll be answering on the matter, for a while.

So you're dismissing the MRA movement because you see many of them equate feminists as feminazis. By the same logic, I should be able to dismiss the feminist movement because I see many of them as exclusionary haters who dismiss trans* people because they're not "real women". See the problem here?

http://geekfeminism.wikia.com/wiki/Intersectionality
I bring this up again and again. The feminist movement is no longer just about seeking equality for women, but for all oppressed groups regardless of gender, sexuality or race.
Such trans* hating individuals have no place in such a movement.

Something something unite under the black flag of anarchy?

I prefer red, the blood of angry men.
...erm. Wait.
......okay, poor choice of words.

Did you seriously just say that people should be scared of equality?

No. I said that the people in power are naturally scared to have that power challenged and so they should be. They've been a facilitator of oppression for so long, it's about time THEY were the ones to feel fear.
Those who desire equality have nothing to fear.

Your appropriation of other people's identities by claiming that people that are for equality are feminists is bullshit. There are many people that are for equality but unwilling to identify as members of the feminist movement, each for their own reasons. [...] You don't get to define other people.

I blame that on the smeared feminist name. People shouldn't be afraid to say they wish for equality. Thus the talk of reclaiming the name.
I was nervous at the prospect of calling myself a feminist before. Now I wouldn't go by any other name.
If you wish for equality, don't be afraid to call yourself feminist. Its what feminism is about.

So would you say then, that those Feminists and MRA who believe in equality are equalists, instead of Feminist/MRA, if they are fighting for the same thing?

Feminism is about seeking equality for all. If you want all people, regardless of gender, race or sexuality, to be considered and treated as equals, you are a feminist.
From what I've seen, the MRA movement is not like this in any way and would much rather rave about 'Those damn feminazis' than seek equality.
I thought the same, regarding the whole "Why not just call it an equalist movement?" thing, for a while. Not anymore.
What's the point in changing the name. Because 'Feminist' sounds too radical? People don't like the connotations? It's been given a bad name?
Damn fucking right it's radical, which is why we need it. If wanting equality is considered such a radical, strange thing then we damn well need a fierce movement to fight for it.
Does it have a bad name? Who gives a fuck. We know what we want. We know what some people think of us. We don't give a shit. Feminism is a rallying point and we're going to storm the haters no matter what they may throw at us. They may have smeared the term, but we will reclaim it. Do you honestly think that changing the name will change anything? That people will hop on just because it doesn't sound so scary? No. Fuck that. People will be proud to call themselves a feminist. I am proud to call myself a feminist.
As for connotations. Like I said, we know what we want. We know what people think of us. Their impressions of 'Feminazism'. They claim that feminists want females to dominate.
Honestly, I think they're just scared. Scared that the oppressed are fighting back against a gender that has dominated for centuries. They're scared of what this will mean for them. They're scared of equality.
Good. They should be scared.
As for the rest, we know what we want and we will make it clear to them. That if they want equality, they should stand by us.
Because if you're not fighting for equality, you're reinforcing inequality. Inaction might as well be opposition.
So if you want equality then stand the fuck with us because we're crushing the motherfucking patriarchy, my friend.

Do you do anything more than acknowledge men's and women's issues?

I attempt to educate others of them, when and where feasible.
Same with all social justice issues.
Awareness is important.
No - It's central to the whole movement.

What is your opinion on MRAs?

i think they can be seperated into two categories
1: Fedora-wearing neckbeards who rave about a woman conspiracy and how the feminist illuminati are oppressing men, using bullshit statistics that don't even make sense in order to support their views
2: People who recognise there are genuine issues that affect men but don't realise that feminism aims to solve those as well.
Feminism = Equality.
MRA = A general crock of shit, really.
