Well, I've only been here a few months and it's a huge company (~ 10000 people) with studios around the world... so it's hard to any anything about the state of the company in general. Personally, I've had an easy ride so far except for a few nights where we stayed until 11pm or so... but a little bit of that before big milestones is okay. Besides that, I get in around 10 and leave around 5, there's a cafe right in the office, new renovations with comfy spaces to boost creativity, hammocks. a medical clinic, and so on. It's pretty good, really.

I'm worried about what's going to happen during some Christmas party five years from now, when Darkcake is realizing new friends aren't going to show up like they did in college, maybe she won't get that promotion, peppermint schnapps tastes really good, and Daniel from sales is sort of handsome.

Why would you care about merit?
Just do what you think is important and live in accordance with that. As for what's important, and whether merit is important, well... no investigation of the world will yield answers from heaven, anon. Here on earth, there are only relatively better or worse arguments, and everything shifts with times and the people. Just pick a path, let the chips fall where they may, and live as your own master.

Can I date darkcake?

She's too busy studying and doing part-time work after school.
She'll probably find someone she can be with when she finishes setting up her career ... probably... though there are a lot of lonely christmascakes at megucorp... they friendly and nice onee-chans, but they sigh so heavily and the cake she brings them is their only bit of sunshine during the day... is she really on the right path...?

I dunno, anon. Just tell them that you like cute flat cartoon girls? You're still the same guy you always were -- nothing's changed. Just talk it out.
And maybe show them cuteness of a flattest and maybe they will understand...?
