(m) cool! i think chanyeol fits the character rly good...slightly offbalance but still cute. wat u think about kareki sehun?

fits too i think! kind of aloof but really a little fuzzball especially when it comes to cute fluffy things. he's initially cold to everyone but it's only because he's afraid of letting his guard down but once you gain his trust, he's really sensitive.
but sehun to me lacks that strong emotional guard that jongin has, the stark contrast between the way he treats strangers and people he trusts.

hiiiiiii i'm trying to make the most out of my two months left here and exploring all the different suburbs! so i've discovered that i really like travelling solo huhu.
i've been reading lots of historical fiction lately and i've just started shogun. wish me good luck :3 :3
and i'm really into korean variety shows lately and i keep telling myself it's all for language practice because no subs (lol, right.) but ah this means i'm spending way too much time holed up in bed laughing.

what do you think about the whole sulli thing?

i think the poor child deserves a break. she's literally grown up in the entertainment world and if there's anything that can destroy someone's emotional state, it's scrutiny. regarding her cursing incident, i think anyone that judges for that is a hypocrite, especially if it's a young korean male. if we're talking attitude problems, let me dig out my fancams of several other sm artists who halfass their perfomances. as for her dating scandal, it's not her fault her boyfriend is a dick that namedrops her to his own advantage.
what i think sm should have done was allow f(x) to promote a follow up single as four. they certainly had no problems letting shinee do that and suju frequently does entire concerts with a missing member. granted, both groups weren't rocked with a scandal but f(x)'s foundation is shaky to begin with. the girls seemed genuinely pleased and excited to have an extended promo season and i think they're feeling apologetic to the fans. this might easily turn to resentment towards jungri.

i get asked this a lot and every time i try to answer with different people because there are too many people i appreciate so here goes:
1) pika - tbh i think i might have mentioned you last time but bby you are chic and amazing and i aspire to be like you?? your brand of humour is A+ and razor sharp.
2) maryam - i have no idea how someone so wonderfully adorable exists. you never fail to make me smile and i'm so truly blessed to know you! YOU ARE SO CUTE. i only wish that you were closer to me so i can pamper you and buy you things
3) rue - hey you <3 i love how you're the calm, rational rock in a sea of emotional fangirls and you speak so much TRUTH. i really like talking to you and value your opinions so much!

ah yes, first year students. citywise, popular cheap eats include cj lunch bar (korean $6.50+, dondon (japanese $8ish+), wonder bao ($2-5), shanghai street (dumplings!) or any of the malaysian restaurants (that isn't papa rich). ferdydukre has a nice interior and $3 hot dogs every day from 12-5 (and also cheap beer but shh i didn't tell you that). most of the restaurants around swanston won't cost you more than $15 anyway.
if you're cooking, head on down to vic market (closed mondays) after 1pm to get some great discounts! trays of meat will sell at $10, bags of fruit for $2, vegetables half price... plus the borek store in the deli hall sells $3 borek!

what is your opinion on xiukai and taokai? (idk the otp names sorry)

the only pairs i actively care about is any combination of kaikrisluyeol but i could see xiukai happening! da ge would take care of jongin and jongin would never really appreciate it until one day he sees how tender minseok is to him and slowly develops a crush??
taokai tho i'm not too keen of. i can't ship tao anything :(

what thing impressed you the most about kai when you saw him irl?

just... the look on his face. he was closest to me during maxstep, barely a few feet away, and my gaze just never left him. i'm used to seeing the fire in his eyes on the screen but to see it in real life is really, really breathtaking. tbh i can't even remember much about the whole performance because i was in disbelief. the boy that i love with each ounce of my heart was right in front of me and within arm's reach. i can only remember his eyes and the powerful moves.
i almost hope that i never see jongin live again, so i can preserve a perfect memory of him.

what were your thought on exo showtime last episode and the show in general? which one was your favorite?

god, exo showtime was such a terrible variety show. for a show with a clear concept (apparently, anyway. i had no idea it had a Q&A concept until it ended) it had terrible direction. i can't believe we had to watch them stay silent for a good 10 minutes. and if you wanted to show how emotional they were, surely there are better ways than to let watch a fucking movie for a quarter of the show??? the members started falling asleep, which speaks volumes. if you went to the beach, how could they leave out the iconic scene where everyone talked openly about their hardships around a fire? at least then if there were tears, it would be heartfelt.
the last episode was like the first episode, except less awkward but also lacked a lot.
the best episode was the haunted house episode, but even then it was dragged out, and in the end they cut the scene i wanted to see the most.
exo showtime was basically fanservice but even then there wasn't even enough to make up for the shitty planning. what we want to see is longer cuts of the boys singing gee, not a million and one scenes of them chewing. and for someone like me who only likes select people, the show certainly wasn't enough to hold my attention.

i think he doesn't mind? why would anyone mind being called by their real name? he doesn't seem to be used to kai even now.
he probably wouldn't like it if they kept calling him "jongin-ah" or "jonginnie" like they're really close with him, but that's more of a cultural thing than anything else?
i've been going by a name that was made up for convenience sake for years now but even now i love it when people call me by my real name because i don't hear it enough usually. but that's just me i guess.

what's your opinion on tvxq, 5 era specifically

god, i love them. they were the reason why i entered kpop in the first place, the reason why i learned korean, the reason i met my best friend and the reason why i'm who i am today.
i don't think there'll ever be another group that tops them in terms of talent. you'll probably argue how everyone else is talented too, but no other meshed as well as a group, and with great voices to boot. the legend of boybands will always be shinhwa but it was tvxq that pushed kpop to a global frenzy. no one will achieve the legacy and musical success that tvxq left behind. thsk songs are still some of the best i've heard.
I'M SUCH AN OT5 FANGIRL YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND. I HAVE 8 VERSIONS OF THE MIROTIC ALBUM.

do you know how to speak korean? how did you learn? I want to learn by myself, do you think it's possible?

it's very possible to self learn korean! a lot of my friends did that. i actually took formal lessons for two years when i was 13, but most of the time, i was learning what i already knew. here are some tips~
i) in the beginning stages, i printed out song lyrics and practiced singing along until i could read hangul fast. this also helps with vocab and grammar structure since lyrics aren't complicated.
ii) when i was watching subbed videos, i forced myself to read the captions. or i would choose a variety show, cover the subs and try to translate it before cross checking with the subs.
iii) i listened to korean radio whenever i could and downloaded sukira podcasts to listen to! this is the most effective method because it forces you to listen. no subs to rely on!
iv) when oppa tweets, try to interpret it before you run for translations. tweets usually use simple korean and is usually written the spoken way, not in the formal writing style, so it's easier to decipher.
v) fangirl a shit ton. that usually works.
