kind of random in between your exo asks, but i was wondering if there is a particular reason why you don't like beenzino anymore? and what did you think of epik high's 99?
1, when i first liked him in 2010, he was incredibly down to earth and quirky. we talked a lot and he was always nice to my friends and i. i LOVED hot clip and jazzyfact. i loved his scruffy hongdae performances. his sweet little cyworld updates with his girlfriend. ... then, he made it big.
when you like an artist, you either like them because of their image, or their work.
i didn't like his new image but i didn't like his music either. 24:26 was a bit of a disappointment. if i die tomorrow was a strong song, but the rest of the album seemed to be fillers. it didn't deliver for what we've been waiting for so long. i still bought the album tho, and still listen to it often, because while it didn't live up to my (admittedly high) expectations, it's still better than some of the music out there.
so while i'm not into him as a person now, if he releases good music, i will still buy it. i think i would've still liked him if he didn't join illionaire, because i already thought illionaire (dok2) was distasteful with all the bling-bling-bitches. his song Pprofile' (ft. surprise, surprise, illionaire) just made me downright disgusted.
2. i admit it: i liked zino only because epik high was away on hiatus.
i always joke, we do not speak of 99. 99 could've been okay if they featured vocalists that suited the songs so much, but ah, we get stuck with YG babies. Hayi sounded fine on record but god, those emotionless performances. i downright hate Up. i can't listen to those screechy vocals.
it'll always be a bit hard for me to accept it when a favourite artist changes their sound, but i was okay with epik high going pop. Don't Hate Me made me frown in confusion, but i get it. after so long in hiding, and the incredibly raw solo album, they needed happy. that's not the problem, tho.
the album is weird. unlike their other albums which had clear direction, this album was just ... it gave me the feel of YG rubbing his chin, going, "well, we'll sign ya, but you have 3 months to come up with an album. hit while the iron is hot."
they will never achieve the musical success that was Remapping the Soul, but i liked all their other albums, even if quality was on a steady decline. at least there were gems. in 99 though, i liked none of the songs.

i like
1. the food. try as you might, but nothing beats true malaysian food.
2. the culture. aiya, so stress for what? slow down la! no hurry no rush! we're pretty laidback.
3. the variety in entertainment! half the world's biggest malls reside in malaysia, and everything closes so late! the drinking culture is relatively small but we have other better, more delicious options. if you close your shop before 10, you're running a bad business model.
i don't like
1. ignorance. the education system needs to buck up because it's not teaching us what we need to know. at least brush up on language skills if you're not going to teach them what the rest of the world is learning. these are the kids who will run your country. how scary is that thought?

if my bias? i probably wouldn't like someone like jongin irl. artsy types scare me because i have this bad inferiority complex about not knowing art. his looks aren't my cup of tea, generally. i don't like confident performers either.... it's odd, because if i think about it, everything about jongin isn't what i usually like.
still, that's what makes love interesting. i like him a lot now, simply because he's jongin.

describe the last fic you read!
twas' a crack chinese fic that i can't remember the name of. kris, luhan and lay are high level mythical creatures that run a centre that helps low level monsters/demons turn into higher level ones. kris is a dragon, lay a goat-like thingy and luhan a deer-like monster.
one day kris wakes up to find an egg and thinks it's his son. out hatches a duck named chanyeol (that later becomes a phoenix) and an anchovy (that grows up to become a water dragon) named sehun.
also featuring luhan's puppy demon/boyfriend/slave jongin, tao the confused exorcist, baekhyun the fox demon/money-hungry boyfriend of yixing and joonmyun, the demon that's literally king midas reincarnated.
stuff happens. it's a hoot.

i want to revive x-man! for those new to kpop, xman is a game show where guests are split into team kang hodong vs team yoo jaesuk, and they compete for the final win, but with a twist- one person is the xman aka the spy, who will deliberately mess thing up, and everyone else has to find that spy.
ofc the classic dangyunhaji needs a revival as well! the rules of the game is that you can attack your opponent verbally, as harsh as you like, but the opponent can only agree. if your attack is too harsh and they can't reply, you win. (it's a bit like the "ah, is that so" game exo played on naver linecast!)
i doubt the new generation of idols are witty enough for dangyunhaji tho.

lol i actually took classes for two years when i was 13 (2006~8). but yeah here's what i did to get better.
a) in the beginning stages, i printed out song lyrics (i have a stack of folders with 2-300 songs :|) and practiced singing along until i could read hangul fast.
b) i fell into (then) obscure fandoms like bigbang (try mentioning bb in 2006 haha) and epik high, and NO ONE TRANSLATED SHIT so i had to do it myself.
c) when tablo hosted dreaming radio, i listened to it every day, subbed some stuff, translated his cyworld entries, translated his blonotes.
d) i made a me2day, forced myself to update it at least twice a day.
e) remember when youtube didn't exist. remember the struggles of clubbox. hardsubs? softsubs? jfc who has time for that let me just watch things unsubbed.
f) i'm terrible at watching dramas, so even if i watch it subbed, i'll usually be multitasking. eventually i just listened to dramas instead of watching it.
tldr: idk 8 years of listening, watching and reading korean will do that to you

i am very determined to be happy! i want to live life to the fullest so i wholeheartedly pursue the things i love. at the moment, a big part of my happiness is jongin so at any one time i will have a plan to travel somewhere to see him. even if it's a vague plan, it keeps me going and spurs me to work harder. it helps that i love my job and gain a lot of satisfaction and pride from it. the more i get better at work, the more money i have to travel, the happier i get.
tldr: jongin motivates me to do better? hahaha

for the exo side of things, definitely go to myeongdong then. your brother can eat the street food, your niece can take in the sheer CROWDS of myeongdong and you can head down into the underground streets and buy albums/check out goods 😂
the sum store in coex is honestly breathtaking. the downside is it's quite far from everything and there's nothing much to do in gangnam. if you want, there's an expensive but tiny aquarium in coex. i say it's worth dragging everyone to sum anyway hahahah
