One of the Sahabah complained to the Messenger of Allah (saw) about waswas during prayer, and he said: “The Shaitan comes between me and my prayers and my recitation, confusing me therein.” The Messenger of Allah (saw) said: “That is a devil called Khanzab. If he affects you seek refuge in Allah from him and spit drily to your left three times.” He [the Sahaabi] said, I did that and Allah took him away from me.

“And if an evil whisper from Shaitan tries to turn you away (O Muhammad) (from doing good), then seek refuge in Allah, Verily, He is the All‑Hearer, the All‑Knower”. [41:36]
"Did I not charge you, O children of Adam! that you should not serve the Shaitan? Surely he is your open enemy, And that you should serve Me; this is the right way. And certainly he led astray numerous people from among you. What! could you not then understand? This is the hell with which you were threatened." [36:60-63]
"Behold, he has no power over those who have attained to faith and in their Sustainer place their trust: he has power only over those who are willing to follow him, and who ascribe to him a share in God's divinity.[16:99–100]
