How do you increase your twitter following if you're not witty, insightful, or charismatic?

Just tweet nice things at people you like without being creepy, I guess? There isn't really an exact science to it.

If given the opportunity, would you like to be a woman?

*shrug* I don't know. Maybe just for a while, to see what it was like? I feel pretty comfortable in my gender identity, though.

Does Dio have the booty?

Yeah, he can shake it shake it, like he's supposed to do. He's got that boom-boom that all the Joestars chase.

What was the best book you ever had to read for school and why?

I can't decide between The Blind Assassin and Beloved. Both of those books had such a profound impact on me as a feminist and as a writer/critic, and they're both about a lot of the things I like (women who cope with societal roles chosen for them in unusual ways, changing societal backdrops, the supernatural, etc.). Margaret Atwood and Toni Morrison are both excellent writers.

What was the worst book you ever had to read for school and why?

The Sun Also Rises. I HATED that book so much. It is basically everything I hate about fiction. I hate Hemingway's prose/dialogue, because every character sounds the same and the ennui of the characters is about as exciting to read about as it is for them to experience it. I hate the tired "PSYCHOLOGY OF MASCULINITY" BS because I am sick of reading about poor little rich boys' fee-fees. I hate how it treats women, I hate how it treats Jews, I hate how basically NOTHING HAPPENS for 300ish straight pages, I hate how I never form any kind of emotional connection to these characters, I hate it hate it hate it haaaaaaaate it.

"What are your thoughts on the auteur theory?" she asked pretentiously.

He exhaled and pushed up his glasses in a very actorly manner before replying:
"I do think that there is plenty of credence to the idea, in that directors definitely cultivate an image of what sort of product they like to produce and convey their interests in certain pet themes or ideas in the projects they choose and how they approach them. However, now that the New Hollywood era has ended and there's much more pressure from studios to produce a certain type of product, one can't help but feel outside influences seeping into films even by very individualistic directors, and there's also the fact of the matter that film is nearly always a collaborative process. There's a million different people working on each film (usually), and the director cannot possibly have total control of every single element, so a film will inevitably be compromised from the director's view at some point or another. This holds particularly true in the current business model of film, which focuses on house styles and cinematic universes, film as a product."

Given that you are a Kit Kat expert, what is your take on Kit Kats Extra Crispy (AKA big Kit Kats)?

Hellrune’s Profile PhotoHellrune
Those ruin the perfect chocolate-to-wafer ration created by OG Kit Kats. They must be avoided.

Can you truly love more than one person?

In what sense? If we're not talking strictly romantically, then of course yes. I love all of my family very much, and a lot of my close friends, too.
If we are just talking romantically…I think so? I don't have much experience with *love* so I don't feel too qualified to talk about this, but I don't think you're ever limited to just loving one person in your whole lifetime.

Haha, DICKerhoof.

Congratulations, you are the 10,000,000th immature idiot to make that joke. You are neither original nor funny. But don't worry, I'm sure your mom thinks you're special.

What are your thoughts on Paul Thomas Anderson?

I like him in general, but I think he has a tendency to be kinda up his own butt when he's not on his A-game? I think Boogie Nights and There Will Be Blood are both stone classics at this point and Punch-Drunk Love is extremely underrated, but Magnolia and The Master feel like amateur hour next to those because Magnolia's just him scrambling around throwing out as many tricks as he can trying desperately to keep you engaged with the repetitive didactic story and broad characters, and The Master just…doesn't have a point.

Favorite hip-hop album?

This question makes me wish I listened to more hip-hop like I've been wanting to. I guess right now I'm really digging Missy Elliot's Under Construction. It's got a lot of big nostalgia value for me, but it also has some of Timbaland's best production work and Missy's best rhymes. "Work It" is indisputably great.

What are your thoughts on John Hughes?

When he puts his mind to it, he can write some really clever stuff. The Breakfast Club is a pretty good character piece that I think still holds up as such despite its view of high school life being inevitably dated, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off is still really funny. But when he's off, he's REALLY terrible. I HAAAAAAATE Sixteen Candles, for instance. That movie's dated in as many bad ways as Breakfast Club is dated in ways that help the charm.
