It's all subjective honestly. People do good things all the time and only we know the reason for why we do those things, it could be because you legitimately care about others, you could want people to see you a certain way, it could be a spur of the moment thing to assist someone. But ultimately, as long as you help someone else or show selflessness, that's what being "good" comes down to.
