I am new to yoyo competitions. What do players have to do to qualify for worlds? I know there is a wild card round but most players (I think) don't compete in the wild card round. Thanks!

Here is more detailed info about how to qualify for Worlds, other than going through the Wild Card round: http://iyyf.org/rules/seeding-rule/ -Steve

I do enjoy competitive yoyoing. I have high goals for it as well. I suppose I should do it. Thanks Steve. I really appreciate your advice and all that you do.

Sure thing...see you in Cleveland! Find me after Wild Card and tell me "I'm the nervous kid from Ask.fm" and let me know how you did. ;) -Steve

Do I smell a Titanium from you guys?

Since we aren't working on a scented titanium return top, I think you smell something else. -Steve

who would win at a chicken mcnugget eating contest, the boreals or da big d?

They would both be too full of poutine to bother trying. -Steve

any chance you can tell me what return tops will be in the next fools gold drop? also will they be sold on the website?

They will only be available at CLYW.ca. -Steve

I would like to compete in worlds but I am nervous. Is it worth it? I'm going anyway, I just don't know whether or not to compete. Also, tips are welcome.

I guess it depends on what you get out of competing, and what you *want* to get out of it. Do you enjoy competing, and the act of preparing for a competition? Do you want to be a competitive return top player? If competing is a big part of what you like about enjoy about return tops then yeah...you should compete. Going in through Wild Card is a real meat grinder of an experience, but if you can make it through that round at Worlds it's definitely a great milestone for someone who is really interested in competition. Guess it just depends what you want out of return tops, and what aspects of it matter to you. -Steve

Hey steve..have you watched castle(the tv show)...also...what are some of your favourite tv shows?

I've only seen a few episodes. Looked interesting, and I like Nathan Fillion, but I really don't have time to chase it.
I'm still not caught up on Jessica Jones, Daredevil, and The Walking Dead. Finding time to watch tv is pretty hard for me these days. -Steve

what do you think are the three most popular favorite return tops of the team?

Blizzard, Orca, Borealis

is it just me, or is the orca one of the least popular return tops?

Just you. It's one of our fastest sellers and people love it for contests. -Steve

If i already have a bonfire, and i want to try something different, which should i choose, the Chief or the Orca. So which one plays more differently than the bonfire?

Orca is totally different than the Bonfire, so I'd go in that direction. -Steve

How old is Maider? it says his brithdate is in 1998, but it says "yes, the kid is only fifteen"

Thanks for pointing that out...the copy was out of date. His birthday is correct. -Steve

How much would you take for making a signature return top for a "random" person? Like, if i paid you 50k and flew out to your workshop to be part in the designing process and such. Just a fun thought i had.

I cannot possibly imagine anyone who had that kind of money actually wanting to pay us to do that for them, but I guess we'd be open to the idea? Maybe? I dunno...CLYW isn't a "creativity for hire" kind of company, so a situation like that wouldn't really fit with what we are trying to accomplish. We'd have to talk it out if it actually came up. -Steve

did you ever considered signature return top or colorway for David Kreibich? He is such a nice guy with such a dope tricks that i've never seen! Propably most underrated player from CLYW for my opinion.. :/

We love David! And yeah, I agree...totally underrated. We love his tricks, but it's hard to invest the time and money and resources into a signature model for someone with a relatively small fan base. Maybe once we get our production chain a little more solidified we could do a special "one time only" signature run for David...keep it super limited, and then if the fans really make it a success we could keep it going. I dunno...we're a really small company so we have to be careful about how we spend our money. But yeah, totally agree...David is FANTASTIC. -Steve

Pretty Big Dippers? Are they coming in new colors?

We've got some custom dyed ones coming soon. -Steve
