I am guilty of this and it only made me let myself down. You have to remember that if that person you put before yourself leaves, then you are left with only yourself. If you always thought about their future at the sacrifice of your own then you have failed yourself. Whatever sacrifices mentally and physically that you made, that is what you will be left with.
