when do we use "like" and "as"? You did it LIKE what i expected or You did it AS i expected
We use LIKE with a noun phrase; we use AS/AS IF/AS THOUGH with a verb phrase.
- You play chess LIKE a professional. ("A professional" is a noun phrase.)
- You play chess AS I expect a professional to play. ("I expect ..." is a verb phrase.)
- You play chess AS THOUGH you were a professional. ("You were a professional" is a verb phrase.)
