is “thug” the new n-word?

I don’t think so, no
The n-word has HUNDREDS of years of racial connotations behind it
Thug doesn’t have the same impact. Not yet anyway. I’ve also heard thug used to describe anyone just acting like a punk, no matter their race.
Also, the fact that we don’t use “the t-word” in place of the word thug should be a good indicator that they aren’t the same

do you think workplaces can put a nix on dreadlocks (as being unprofessional)? (i’m currently reading about the Chastity Jones case, as well as the military ban on women having dreadlocks, interesting!)

I would say no
Dreads tend to be heritage-bases, racially or religiously influenced. Banning them could be a form of discrimination
Dreads should be treated like any other hair style; as long as the hair isn’t posing any health/safety hazards it shouldn’t be a problem

I spent 2 weeks in Portugal like 9 years ago. It was beautiful and I’d like to go back. We went to the islands and I’d like to see the mainland.
But I think Brazil would be a lot of fun too

Unless I get up to go to the bathroom and tell you what i want before I get up just in case the server comes back while I’m gone
