A guy called me a weeaboo because I had anime profile pictures in the past, brought manga to school, wanting to go to Japan, taking Japanese 1 and going to conventions. I have not tried to act like I am Japanese and like other things outside of anime.
To me, what you've described is an "Otaku." It's true "Weebs" are obsessed with Japanese culture, but for me a Weeb is someone who not only is obsessed with Japanese culture, but also LOOKS DOWN ON others who are not. If you're being cool to others, to me, you're not a Weeb. And either way, fuck what other people think. If you're not hurting anyone, do you. Good luck.
Do you and the other people who work on Toonami take care of the licensing of shows or do you have to make a request and another part of Adult Swim handles it?
The programming department handles that in conjunction with acquisitions and legal. We work with all of them to secure shows. It's complicated and time consuming! But worth it.

Just wanted to shake things up. I like the idea of Toonami as a continuum, where Tom might have a busted arm for a year, and Sara might have glitches, and they might be on an old decrepit base for a while... And that at some point, all of that might change, too!

At this point, most of it, I'd say. Unless you count the opens we have to shorten for time.

Nah trained them myself. It's actually fairly easy, a lot of great info is available on the Internet, and it's more about consistency and patience than anything else. Dogs love structure, exercise and affection, give them those three things (plus food), and they will love you forever.
Why do you think there is this elitist snobbery under certain people who prefer subs over dubs?
I think it's an easy, pat way to try to show that someone is a "true" fan. And I think it sucks.
So, my roommates & I watched season 1 of Empire and I actually enjoyed it. I know u had mixed feelings on the show but I was wondering if you liked any of the original music? Was also wondering if you'd be amused that we've called it "Rap Game of Thrones" and made "Cookie Lannister" a running gag.
I do dig the music, not enough to buy it per se, but with Timbo behind it all it's clearly legit in terms of representing popular sounds of the current day. GoT? Makes sense although I prefer Lee Daniels' original quote calling it "A Black Dynasty." Insane, bananas and super fun show.
In terms of an American audience, does the Gundam franchise ever stand the chance of reaching its previous levels of popularity or is the interest just not there anymore.
I hope so. I don't know that giant cartoon robots will ever again have the primacy they once did in the American imagination, but I hope so.

Love thrash! Slayer is one of my favorite bands of all time. Also low early Metallica, Testament, Anthrax, Megadeth, etc, and of the newer crop, I like VHÖL (kinda trash-y), Oozing Wound, Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, and many many more. THRASH FOREVERRRR
Why not show something "older," even stuff you've never shown before? I'm 21, and by far most of the anime I watch is from the 80s/90s...
Most of the older anime we have aired in the past- and I'd say we've aired a good bit- has not succeeded well from a ratings perspective. Toonami is beholden to ratings, and when a trend appears that negatively impacts that, like- older shows not doing well- it's our job to adjust. I love a lot of 70s/80s/90s anime but most of it wouldn't survive a mass audience, sorry.

Nope, I haven't seen any of the earliest Toonami game reviews from the Moltar era out there. We did Burning Rangers, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Final Fantasy VII, Goldeneye, 1080, Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, and several others.
