I sat in my room, wrapped in my blanket, while my mom tidied up. Abu and Mama were planning to go out for groceries. I felt peaceful and touched, realizing how lucky I am to have my parents with me. Mashallah.
In less than five years, I'll be getting married, and I know I won't have this family dynamic again—having all my siblings under one roof, living together for an extended period. It's a bittersweet feeling.❤️‍

The influence of social media, particularly Instagram's Wedding Reels and TikTok wedding content, has undeniably impacted the current generation's perception of weddings. There's a growing trend towards grandeur, elaborate ceremonies, and extravagant displays. However, the essence of a simple wedding, following the Sunnah, holds a serene beauty. The tradition of gathering relatives, arranging a modest walima, and hosting a heartfelt dawat is a beautiful practice.
The escalating expectations for events like the mehndi ceremony, lavish performances, opulent bridal attire, and elaborate groom entries have set standards that might lead to disappointment for many individuals, especially those with limited resources. The emphasis on displaying wealth through extravagant dresses and showy elements contradicts the true essence of happiness and commitment. True promises are made through genuine actions and care, not through showcasing materialistic extravagance.

I think there's a point in your healing journey where you stop trying to convince other people to do the right thing. You just observe their choices, understand their character, and decide what you're going to allow in your life.
