Which supermarket do you prefer Tesco 🛒 / Sainsbury 🛒 / Asda 🛒 / Morrisons 🛒 / Aldi 🛒 or Lidl 🛒 ??

fattbboymedic’s Profile PhotoFatboy93
All through the pandemic I used Tesco deliveries, but now I've gone back to going to Aldi, which is significantly cheaper (and closer to me). I would possibly use Morrisons if I had one nearby as I think their fresh fruit & veg and fresh bakery is much better than most, but there isn't one near me.

When you are out job hunting, would you say it is necessary to attach a cover letter alongside your CV, or just send your CV, telling them everything they need to know?

SlimMan’s Profile PhotoBilly Walker
Always. Say something which shows that you actually researched the company and why you want to work there, and that you didn't just spam your CV to 1000 companies randomly.
CV's without covering letters went straight in the bin where I worked.

Do you drive?

ElsJ_’s Profile PhotoEls
I passed my test at 17, just before starting uni, but then didn't own a car until after I left. For a while I drove a lot for work, all over the UK, but in a company vehicle.

What daytime program do you watch?

ElsJ_’s Profile PhotoEls
I probably watch too much daytime TV. I watch Politics Live most days when parliament is in session (which I guess is ok), but if I'm feeling lazy I'll watch Lingo, Tipping Point and The Chase back-to-back. I've also been known to watch Homes Under The Hammer and Bargain Hunt, but I don't make a habit of it.

What's turmeric good for?

ElsJ_’s Profile PhotoEls
It's good for turning things yellow. I use it when boiling rice instead of saffron because it is MUCH cheaper.
However, it tastes like stale dust, so don't use too much. A quarter teaspoon is plenty.
Don't believe the countless websites that tell you it is some sort of wonder drug. They are all trying to sell it to you. The independent scientific research says "it has never been shown to be effective in randomised, placebo-controlled clinical trials for any indication". In large doses, it is positively dangerous, leading to iron deficiency, kidney stones and other problems.

🍝 Italian food: YAY or NAY?

Yay to everything except perhaps American. To me, American basically means lots of fat, salt and sugar and generally unhealthy stuff. That's not to say I don't like it, but I limit how much of it I have.

What would you do if you wanted desperately to work with a colleague who wasn't keen on you ?

Fontaine
Why would I want to work with someone who didn't like me? You spend a lot of your life at work and it's important to be happy at work.
If you really want that job, but it just happens to be working with someone you don't like, then you have three options:
1) Find a similar job elsewhere
2) Get the other person to leave by whatever means necessary, or
3) Change their opinion of you.

Do you find it better to say 3 pm or 15?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
I'd always say 3pm, but sometimes write 15:00.
I once went to visit Bletchley Park, the old secret wartime code breaking place, and when I was buying my ticket at the tills I asked the person what time they closed that day. I knew I was in the right place when they responded "Sixteen-hundred hours" 😅

Do you Prefer Watching films on DVD / Blue-ray 📀 or Streaming them on Netflix / YouTube

fattbboymedic’s Profile PhotoFatboy93
I watch almost all my films from normal linear TV (Freeview). I use a big hard disc recorder to capture anything that looks interesting and I have built up a store of around 100 films that are waiting to be watched.

How to get rid of depression ?

sexy_mummy98’s Profile PhotoAleksandra Gawor
I'm no expert, but I think for many people it is something that you have to manage rather than something you can get rid of.
When you start to be depressed about being depressed, that is probably the time to start thinking of taking medication, to break the downward spiral.

When you share bad news about your personal life with someone, does it help any if/when they respond by telling you their own similar experiences? Is there something else that would be more helpful to hear?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
Usually that is the wrong thing to do, to turn the conversation back on to yourself when someone tells you their problems. They are telling you because they want you to listen, not to compete.

[From the show "This Morning"] Should obese people pay more to fly?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon
Most of the cost of flying is in the fuel, so in theory it would be fair to charge people more money if they weigh more or if they carry more luggage. It probably wouldn't make for good public relations though.

⏱ Is time real?

It's definitely real, it's just not quite as linear and inflexible as some people think. For example, time runs more slowly in the presence of a large gravitational field. Your head is actually older than your feet are, because most of the time your feet are closer to the center of the earth than your head is, and so they exist in a larger gravitational field where time runs more slowly.
