How's Ramadan going with you?
you asked me this sixteen hours ago, and my answer is still the same when I first thought of a response to your enquiry, dear anon.
it's going.
I've been pensive about several things I've seen in my lifetime, especially with regards to social media. I told a course mate once, "check your privilege" when they were being blunt/brutally honest about their struggles online.
there are families out there who are struggling to make ends meet, yet they continue being mean to people who have made the choice to pursue their professions.
it's sad, isn't it?
once you lose your patience to tolerate another human being and their life choices, you're only causing negativity upon yourself. once you start disrespecting others, you're disrespecting yourself.
be mindful: we attract what we put out there.
some people are surprised when bad things continually happen to them, but the fail to see the negativity they bring upon themselves by their actions. be good/do good, and good will come to you. it's that simple.
what goes around comes around.
if they respect you, respect them. if they disrespect you, still respect them. do not allow the actions of others to decrease your good manners, because you represent yourself, not others.
"Show respect to people who don't even deserve it; not as a reflection of their character, but as a reflection of yours."
— Dave Willis
"respect yourself. do not feel sorry for yourself. do not dwell on unkind things others may say about you. polish and refine whatever talents God has given you. go forward in life with a twinkle in you eye, and a smile on your face, but with great and strong purpose in your heart."
this Ramadan has been instrumental to my (mental/physical/emotional) health and growth.
it's almost mid-june, and I'm still working on myself.
initially, I wanted to use this week to go back to my campus to work (in advance) on the assignments that I will receive next semester, but I am sick. I have a low fever, and my sinuses are acting up, but that doesn't mean I have to give up.
it's probably a sign from God telling me to take it easy on myself, and to just focus on my priorities (i.e., finishing certain chapters in my stories to send to my publishers), one day at a time.
