Ask @nurbzee:

If you were a volunteer, where would you like to work?

chiang rai, thailand was the first answer that came to mind. only because I went there on a school service trip a few years ago. I do miss the people/volunteers I had grown close to, and the families who had welcomed us into their homes.
I've had a conversation about this with a former colleague a few years back. she had asked me which organisations I volunteered with, and I mentioned the one I was with when I went to chiang rai with my class. I told her while I'd love to go back there, there are people closer to home that are in need of volunteer services/help. when it comes to change/helping others, it's better to start from within (i.e., within your family/community), then working your way out.
I'd love to volunteer in indonesia as well, but I'm happy with just volunteering in singapore for now. 😌

What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen this week?

Livi; ⚡️
the week you asked me this @LiviBates, my answer would be "Heartache and Other Natural Shocks" by Glenda Leznoff. I didn't expect myself to like it when I first started reading it, but towards the end of the book, I found myself hooked to the narrative.
also! I finally finished watching Only Yesterday, a film I mentioned when I answered a question you asked several months ago (read: https://ask.fm/nurbzee/answers/142555152583). it was really good, I loved it. ☺️

Use this to post something 💎

Dana
using this space as a response to an answer that I wrote on the friday of the first week of the school term (read: https://ask.fm/nurbzee/answers/143346366663);
on my way to school that friday, I told myself that I wanted it to be a quiet day. I didn't really want to speak to anyone. when I first reached my campus, I saw several people I knew, and missed – and that alone was enough for me. as I walked into school, I passed by another group of friends – people who were beloved to me. I smiled, of course, and they saw me and smiled back, waving their hellos.
as I walked down the stairs to the level where my class was held, I saw a familiar face. someone I'd been meaning to be with after months of being apart – and my stomach did a flip. I also, almost tripped on my own shoe (talk about being a klutz), but I kept walking, determined to find my classroom.
that entire day on friday, I came across/was surrounded by the people I missed and love, but I was in shock. they smiled, and greeted me warmly, but all I could muster was a quiet, "hi".
I could have struck up conversations with the people and friends I'd been meaning to talk to, but it was all too much. the nurul back then was overwhelmed. usually she was way more jovial, and bubbly then the way she behaved that friday. she wasn't ignoring anyone – nor was she sulking, upset, or afraid – she just needed time to adjust.
looking back at how I was when the school term first started, and at my past from before I started university, I've come to realise how this wasn't the first time I've felt apprehensive or uncertain like this. I've tried to identify the source of my worries, and how my anxiety has the ability to silence me. usually it's because I'm overthinking or unnecessarily worried about my academic path and/or the pasts that I've shared with the people I care for.
but hey – that was in the past, and you can't keep lingering in it if you want to move forward. I don't know what the future has in store for me and the people I wish to spend it with – but I do know that I've been granted another day to live the best to my abilities. it's another chance to be better, to flourish, and to grow. 🌸✨

Would you rather buy expensive clothes or expensive shoes?

neither. I'd rather save that money to invest in something better.

"Never beg people to stay against their will. The gift of goodbye opens another door for you. Move on, & create the next chapter of your life." 🌸

Ms. Positive
it's important to remember that not all the people in your life are meant to stay there.
"...you can't keep lingering in the past if you wish to move forward.
some people come into your life just to teach you how to let go. letting go doesn't mean giving up, but rather accepting that there are things that cannot be. it's important to remember that not all the people in your life are meant to stay there.
"We may love the wrong person and cry about the wrong things, but no matter how things go wrong, one thing is for sure, mistakes help us find the person and things that are right for us. We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things in our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are not your struggles, and you are here now with the power to shape your day and your future. Every single thing that has ever happened in your life is preparing you for a moment that is yet to come."
"Never force anything. Give it your best shot, and then let it be. If it's meant to be, it will be. Not everyone is for you, and you have to be okay with that. You often meet people who serve their purpose as a bridge, make peace with that.""

Dengan ikhlas aku lepaskan kau 😢

"I'm sincerely letting you go."
I'm going to assume that you're the anon that left me the previous question about letting someone go. as I've reiterated time and again, people will come and go in your life, but you'll always have you.
at the end of the day, when you're resting in your grave, you're only going to have you and your deeds. remember that this your life, so live it well.
it may be for the best that you are without this person.
whatever you're feeling now is temporary. just like this life, and the people in it. focus on your dreams, your goals, your ambitions. if they've made the decision to leave you, so be it. accept their choices, and move on with your life.

How can beauty save the world, if it requires victims?

beauty...can't save the world. what saves the world is kindness, selflessness, and good heartedness.

"Forgive yourself each night and start every morning with a plan to do better. Don't carry around any burden or pain. Let it all go." 🌸

Ms. Positive
"Never carry a negative baggage from your yesterday. Let it go, whatever you are holding onto in your life right now. Whether it happened 10 minutes ago or 10 years ago, don’t let it hold you back and keep you from growing and exploring the world. Don’t let things to continue hurting you. You can’t expect you can move forward if your mind is still thinking about the things that happened in your past. Don’t let negativity bother you and exhaust your energy in dealing with it. Practice a different and more positive approach. Leave things from your yesterday and don’t be tempted to pick up the pieces again. Forget what lies behind and get ready because God is providing beauty from your ashes. Something better is coming in your way."

What are your ideal sleeping conditions? Complete darkness/light? Thick sheets/no sheets? Music/tv? Windows/door open? Alone? How do you BEST get to sleep? 🌿

Ronnie
complete darkness, although I don't mind some lights. no sheets, unless it's really cold. no music/tv. windows and doors open to let the air in. alone or with someone I'm comfortable sharing a sleeping space with.
I'm not sure how I best get to sleep. usually my exhaustion/tiredness/sadness/pensiveness overwhelms me and I drift off into a state of slumber.
