Nothing weird about this question. I like the technical ones. First off, yes we do wear hearing protection, although not equally. Billy and Michael carry most of the vocal responsibilities and that requires being able to hear the monitors so they can maintain proper pitch (neither flat nor sharp). As a result they use protectors that don't block too much out which would make it nearly impossible to sing. On the other hand. I am pushing huge air out of my stage amp and you can actually fee. l the rumble in your chest. I use maximum protection and just pop one of them out when I sing. Nate, our drummer, is still experimenting to find what suits him best. There is truth to the claim that our stage volume (what comes out of our personal amps, and sound reinforcement) is relatively high compared to the P.A. which we keep mostly for the vocals and mics on the drums. Please don't think that we are just a bunch of feral kids with huge amplifiers that are out of control. We do everything we do for a good reason.

Yes, in case of audio Amplifiers*,it's true that decreasing the sound volume decreases the power consumption, cuz less volume = less current in the output line=less power consumption. This rule is true in GENERAL. Take your cell phone as an example, if you use the speaker the battery life is short compared to when you use the headphones to listen to the audio files.

In some special cases like RF Amplifiers, where output is also RF signal, this "might" not be true.
These amplifiers are designed in such a way that there efficiency is maximum at one specific output power. So in that case, increasing/decreasing output power may affect the efficiency.
Explaining in general was a little bit hard because too many circuits came to my mind when I've read your question :D!
