After a 2-3yr spat with alcohol in my early 20s, I eventually found it pretty easy to conclude that alcohol just sucks regardless of how you consume it. For my purposes, I discovered infinitely better habits & substances that allowed me to ditch alcohol. & I used alcohol to relieve stress, to limit anxiety, & generally just to feel good. I pursued two prescription medications from my physician that rendered alcohol worthless for me. & I also had a friend who had me try the always effective Marijuana to relax at night instead of alcohol — all of these working together & on-demand greatly increased my energy & mood, & limited my anxiety, & improved my health overall. My thinking became much clearer; I became much more sociable; &, I dropped some ~20-30lbs eventually as a result. & I'm fairly certain if I had kept drinking, there's no way I would have been able to attend graduate school — alcohol just makes you cloudy & stupid.
