"Sometimes you find yourself trying to let go of something. But it's like you have been swimming in the ocean. For a very very long time. And you feel like you belong there. You are one with the waves. The warmth of the water. And your body moves in sync with the ocean. And you swim around just trying to stay afloat. Then you get tired and you start to drown and you swim back to land.
When you get there you just feel so heavy because you lost touch with gravity for so long and you collapse on the beach as you try to find balance again. And then your feet finds gravity, you stand up and you look at the horizon one last time.
And just know that no matter how beautiful the sea was, and how good it made you feel it was never yours for you to keep. And someday's you will miss it, you know. And you feel yourself moving with the waves.
And you dream of diving in, then you realise your feet was meant for land, and not cut out for the ocean. Maybe you're meant to climb trees, or hike hills or just run really fast.
Letting go is not easy*. There is nothing quite like swimming in the ocean. Just like how it's natural for your feet to find gravity, it’s natural for you to let go and find your true purpose in life again.
The sea is the sea. And you are just you.
I have to let go.
But sometimes I find myself waking up at the beach again."

"I’m probably going to make some unpopular statements in this post, so if you don’t like that, tough shit. I’m sayin’ it anyways, since it’s been bothering me for a while.
I re-watched Legend of Korra a couple months ago, and I only then realised why the book 4 subplot of Korra working out her trauma with the help of Zaheer has always bothered me so much: It’s a very blatant allegory for a victim forgiving her rapist. And if you don’t believe me on this, go back and watch the episode. Season 4, episode 9, Beyond the Wilds. Go watch it. Listen to the (layered) word choices. Look at Korra’s reactions to the situation. You’ll never be able to watch those scenes the same again.
The episode gives the very clear message that forgiveness is the only way to be whole again. This is a harmful message for sexual abuse victims. You don’t need to forgive your abuser, and you certainly don’t need his help to recover.
The realisation of the episode’s subtext is such a disappointment to me personally, since this show has meant so much to me. It’s also such a step back from the Avatar episode The Southern Raiders, which delivers the message that you don’t have to forgive or forget; you just have to accept and move on. LoK claims to present this same message, but there’s also the other, shitty underlying message."

well, I've definitely learnt that taking time for yourself to decompress from the hustle and bustle of daily life is important. the ten days I had in isolation was a refreshing break for me.
