Do you ever have fantasies that you feel disturbed by? Elaborate, please.

Yes, but I think it's normal? For instance walking over a bridge, imagining throwing someone else off.
But I'm more likely to think about myself, imagining jumping off or calculating my chances of survival, for instance if I'm on a plane and it crashes and I have to swim to an island and try to survive until I got rescued.
Your first priority would be land, then water, then food. But I probably wouldn't last long without my medication. And this is what I'm most likely to have a disturbing "fantasy" about, so I don't think I'm a menace to anyone else :)

We love people, we hate people . we wish for specific people. We cry over life's unfair people. Yet we are united not as a single person, but as a people with shared opinions. So why can't we share a common vision of world peace ?

As I get older I start to think that the fall and original sin may not have literally happened but they serve as excellent metaphors for the human condition.
I don't know why but it seems to be innate in us. And any excuse for a poem.
Stars, I have seen them fall,
But when they drop and die
No star is lost at all
From all the star-sown sky.
The toil of all that be
Helps not the primal fault;
It rains into the sea,
And still the sea is salt.

If you were an actor, would you rather perform as a theater or movie actor?

I'd be a reciter of audiobooks, that way I would't be in the oublic eye and get bothered by stalkers etc but people would enjoy my work & I'd earn money for reading books!
RN there's one called James Macpherson who recites Ian Rankin's books, I'd like to do sinething in that vein but I could read Arnold Bennett in a Potteries accent!

What is your least favourite Christmas / Winter pop song?

I don't like any of the tacky, schmaltzy songs. As a good ex-Catholic I prefer carols & as I happen to be in Manchester tomorrow I'm going to the Anglican Cathedral's concert.
As I never listen to Radio 1 or 2 or go into tacky shops I am spared this :)
One thing I do like is the heavy metal Christmas album by Rob Halford!

What is your favorite drink on cold evenings?

Drinking chocolate & amaretto, served with the right kind if biscuit after a good but of exercise it's like a trailer for heaven :)

At what point do you think watching someone (like a loved one) sleep becomes disturbing instead of romantic? Or is it disturbing altogether, in your opinion? Why?

It is disturbing really, I've never done that or thought much about it but ut is a strange thing to do and possibly an invasion of privacy.
When I heard about the girl who had herself cryogenically frozen I thought about the sleeping beauty in the fridge, sadly I can't find a pdf but it's by this author called Primo Levi all of whose work is wonderful.

What's your weirdest "wrong number" experience-- either being dialed or dialing it?

I know someone, I was at university with him and didn't like him but he somehow got my number & made prank calls.
Once a firm I worked for had a manager with a very similar voice to him. When I picked up the phone and a voice said "Hello, Andrew" (that's my real name) I just said "wtf do YOU want" in the belief that it was the prank caller.
It was my manager.
Oddly, once I'd apologised we had a useful conversation & he invited me to do so e work, which I needed because I'd finished one temporary assignment with that firm and had no other job, so it was good that my contract extended. And he didn't even mind! But that prank caller could have ultimately cost me my job.

What if the universe is poetry and we're all just incomplete verses?

PAP your favorite accessory you are wearing right now.

Recently I discovered thermography, though I haven't done much with it yet.
It shows the temperature from blue (cold) to red (hot). The cold bar on the left is the window of the train.

Do you believe that mental health professionals should be required to attend psychotherapy sessions themselves? If yes, should it be done on a regular basis or just once? Why?

Yes, it should be done to avoid them getting obsessed with one particular school of thought or analysis, to give some detatchment and make sure they don't get personally invested in their cases.
I'd never actually thought of this idea!

I get really confused by AskFMmers regularly changing their names and accounts. I keep losing track of who it is I'm talking to. Have you noticed this and does it affect your enjoyment of the site, or are you unfazed?

Yes, I get confused by Diana and others :)
I can generally figure out who they are so I don't mind. I respect people's want and need to be anonymous if they're avoiding certain people or if they want to keep things private.
I'd like more good asks and likes but I'm generally enjoying it ;)

What did you have for breakfast today?

I din't have breakfast, I did my environmental walk then lunched on a leek and potato soup (homemade obvs), bread and a sticky toffee pudding.
Absolutely no carbs here!

What nursery rhymes or poems do you remember that seem just plain creepy now when you think back?

The one about the little boy thatSanta Claus forgot, my brother used to reliably cry at that one.
WHY NOT STOP RECITING IT, THEN?
It's a pretty weird message to send to a child, to this day I've got no idea why parents think it's ok to say things like that to their children.

What is the worst 21th century gadget?

All those pointless, unused apps that drain battery from devices, so the useful fuction of said devices can't be used.
My phone ran out at a crucial time yesterday and I was fuming, but nit as much as the people I let down, and I wondered why all this utter shite that I never use is a default and I have to go to the effort of removing it myself?

Do you think psychologists, therapists and psychiatrists who were once battling their own psychological issues or mental illnesses are more likely to have their clients' or patients' best interests at heart? Or does history of mental illness make a person less equipped to help their patients? Why?

It depends, on the one hand someone who has suffered from a particular condition is likely to understand and try harder to help others, but on the other hand, it might lead to the psychiatrist getting too involved and being unable to behave professionally.
Perhaps the best equipped to help are those who have a family member who has a particular condition, say a son who is on the autistic spectrum, and understanding the condition and having the wish to help but being able to take a step back and not get too involved in it and upset by what will inevitably happen.
